The tip of my cock scorches as she squeezes my cock tightly. With a groan, I collapse atop her, my seed finally erupting. It surges all the way up my length and explodes inside of her, a burning stream of come, everything in my body fixated on the sensation of my seed surging out of the end of my dick.

I love you.

I almost say it, but my voice is too tangled with lust. Maybe that’s a good thing.

It’s not fair, springing that on her now, even if it feels true… even if I know it’s true.

At the end, as we reach our shared finish, she collapses onto her front. My eager woman still pressing back against me, coaxing more seed out of me. Finally, I slip out of her. Rolling to the side, I pull her into my arms and cradle her gently.

“Heck, Kayden,” she whispers, trailing her fingernails over my sweaty, heaving chest. “I thought that would hurt… and it did at first. Then it was like heaven. Heaven.”

She laughs adorably.

“Does that make me sound like a dork?”

“Not even a little,” I say, cradling her tightly, knowing I’ll never let go, knowing I can’t, not now that we’ve given ourselves to each other. “And even if you were, you’re my dork.”

Her hand tightens against me, like she can’t believe I just said that. I almost let it all out. My claim on her, my ownership, the fact she belongs to me. For now, it’s enough to lie here together as she settles down in my arms.

“I like being yours,” she says after a few minutes. “It feels right. It feels like who I’m meant to be.”

This has to mean she feels the same, doesn’t it?

That thought returns to me again. Getting a ring, following my heart, even if the rest of the world might think we’re crazy.

First, I have to do to the honorable thing.

“I feel exactly the same,” I whisper, kissing the top of her head.

CHAPTER

TWENTY-FOUR

Kayden

“Very good, boy,” I tell Buckie as he sits on one side of the yard, his legs twitching like he wants to spring into action. He maintains his position, even with his mouth open. Saliva dribbles onto the grass as he gets ready to bolt.

I know the feeling. It’s been three days since me and Luna first made love, and I feel how Buckie does now, always waiting to explode into action, always ready to claim her again.

We’ve spent a lot of time together, sometimes indulging in the unstoppable lust of our bodies, sometimes talking and sharing.

Vincent sits on the back porch, hands wrapped around a mug of coffee as I work.

“And… go.”

Buckie launches into action, sprinting to the other side of the yard and scooping the ball up. He brings it to me, tail waggling crazily, pride gleaming in his doggie eyes.

“Good boy,” I say.

Once the training session is over, Vincent offers me a mug of coffee. I tell him yes since I need to speak with him, anyway. Luna’s at the tattoo studio. I purposefully arranged to come over when I knew she was going to be out, and Vincent was going to be in. We sit on the porch together, Buckie curled into a ball.

“He’s already doing so much better,” Vincent says. “You must’ve been one hell of a dog handler.”

“I did my best,” I tell him.

He grins. “Modest.”

We sit quietly for a while.

Next door, Jodi and a few of his friends are having a cookout. When I initially walked into the yard, he stared like I was going to leap over the fence and throw myself at him, but I just nodded politely and got on with my work. The implication was clear. As long as he leaves my woman alone, he won’t get any problems from me.

“Sir, I need to ask you something,” I say. “It might seem like I’ve lost my mind.”

“Okay…”

Vincent leans forward, resting his elbows on his forearms. I look at the man with admiration. Luna and I have been speaking about her childhood these past couple of days. I know how hard Vincent worked to take the place of two parents.

We’ve been talking about other stuff like my time overseas. I’ve laughed about things I haven’t let myself think about in years, and I’ve shared the darkness, always knowing my woman’s there with a countering light.

“Firstly, I want you to know I love your daughter.”

Vincent takes this calmly, like a soldier, not showing his reaction.

“I haven’t told her yet,” I go on.

“Why?” he asks.

“I want to do this the honorable way. I wanted to speak with you first.”

It’s been difficult not to tell her I love you after every time we have sex, or after she’s hugged close to me when we’re sharing our emotions.

“I want to spend the rest of my life with her,” I say. “I want to have a family with her. I know this will seem like a shock, but I’ve never wanted anything more. I’ll provide for her, keep her safe, protect her. I’ll never stand in the way of her career. In fact, I want to help her with it when the time’s right.”
