He plants one last kiss on my pussy before standing, leaning in to kiss my lips. I get a taste of myself, and suddenly, I’m turned on again.

“You tasted so good, Liz,” he murmurs, pulling away from the kiss. His eyes are a darker shade of gray, full of desire.

“I want—”

My voice is cut off by a phone ringing, splitting the tension in two. I glance over to my phone, which I had set on the counter.

Oh shit.

I swallow hard, turning back to Troy. “It’s my… it’s my dad.”

He blinks a couple of times and then steps back, shaking his head in a way that makes my stomach drop.

I pick it up, knowing he’ll just come searching for me if I don’t answer. “Hey,” I choke out, trying to even my breaths out. “What’s up, Dad?”

“Liz, where are you?” His tone is full of irritation. “I stopped by your apartment to see you before I left for Las Vegas for business, and you weren’t there.”

“Um…” I hesitate, and then my eyes go wide. I’m screwed. He knows where I am.

Troy watches me carefully, and I feel he understands exactly what’s happening. “Tell him the truth,” he mouths.

“I’m at Troy—er, Mr. Watkins’ house.” I’m stumbling over my words, and I’ve never been more embarrassed in my life. What will my dad think if he finds out his best friend just got me off?

“Why did you go over there and not tell me?” my dad huffs, and it dawns on me that he’s not suspicious at all. He’s just frustrated he wasn’t invited.

Definitely not something I would’ve wanted you here for, Dad.

“I don’t know,” I say carefully. “I was dress shopping with Bethany today and ran into Mr. Watkins. I hadn’t seen him in so long, so we decided to catch up.”

“That’s good,” Dad says. “I’m headed there now. I don’t like to miss out on a chance to get my two favorite people in the world together.”

My heart jumps into panic mode. “Um, okay, but I was actually fixing to leave. I have an early start tomorrow.”

“On a Sunday? I told you that you should’ve just come to work for me. We can always use lawyers.”

Shit, shit, shit.

Troy has already picked up on what’s happening and quickly grabs my underwear from the floor. I think he’s going to throw them in the trash, but instead, he puts them in his pocket. I make a face at him, but he doesn’t notice.

“I’ll be there in ten. Love you, honey.”

“Love you, Dad,” I choke out, trying to regain my composure. I immediately pull my dress straps up, my face growing hot as I realize I was completely exposed during the entire phone call with my dad.

“You’re gonna have to go,” Troy says sternly. “I’ll tell your dad you got sick or something.”

My mouth gapes. “He just said he’s on the way here.”

“Yeah, and that’s all the more reason to leave,” Troy snaps, his tone growing cold. “I knew this was a bad idea, but I didn’t realize he had your damn location! He’s gonna be pissed if he finds out. I thought he was busy,” he adds, his jaw tensing.

“He’ll never know that… we… you know,” I say, feeling childish as I jerk my dress down.

“No, but he’ll want to know why I didn’t bother telling him you were coming over this evening. I would never see you without telling him.”

I make a face. “Why?”

His face becomes stone cold. “Because he’s my best friend, and you’re his daughter. Everything about what just happened is bad.”

Well, it didn’t feel bad.

I glare at him but don’t bother saying how I feel about it now. If he didn’t want to risk my dad finding out, then he shouldn’t have invited me in the first place. I slide off the stool, grab my phone, adjust my dress, and stalk to the front door.

“Liz, I’m sorry,” he calls after me, but I don’t listen. I ignore him, but right as I reach the front door, I freeze.

Oh no! How close was he?

I open the door to see my dad’s Lamborghini parking behind my car. The chill of the night air sends a very different kind of shiver down my spine, and I fold my arms across my chest.

“Hey, Lizzie,” Dad flashes me a grin. “What you so dressed up for?”

“I’m going out with Bethany,” I answer automatically. “That’s why I have to go. I didn’t want you to sic your bodyguards on me while I’m out.” The lie comes out flawless, so freaking flawless that you’d think I’d lied about my whereabouts all the time.

“Tell her you can go out another time,” Dad waves me off, heading right for me. I step back from him, terrified that he might smell the sex on me or something. “It’s been so long since the three of us have gotten together that you should stay. Troy is like family to us.”
