“I don’t know who would’ve thought it, but I wouldn’t change a thing,” Beth gleams, downing the rest of her glass.

“Hey, you two,” Troy greets us as he enters the kitchen. He heads straight for me, kissing the side of my cheek. “Ella sleeping?”

“Finally,” I sigh. “I swear if it were up to her, she’d never sleep.”

“Well, good thing she has a persistent mother who knows what’s best for her.” Troy kisses me again, wrapping his arm around my waist.

“You guys are so cute it makes me sick,” Beth laughs before setting her wine glass in the sink. “Since you’re home early, I’ll leave the two of you to enjoy the baby’s nap. I know how important this time is,” she adds, giving me a look.

I roll my eyes. “You don’t have to run off.”

“Yeah, I know,” Beth says, glancing down at her phone, “but Daniel has already asked when I’m coming home. Apparently, Danny is sleeping well, too. There’s some movie he’s been dying to watch, and he wants me to see it with him.”

“Okay, well, I’ll have our driver take you home,” I say, pulling out my phone and texting him. “He should just be out in the pool house.”

“The luxury,” Beth snorts, shaking her head. “A girl could get used to it.”

“I already did,” I wink at her, and Troy bursts into laughter, squeezing me a little tighter. I hit send for the request to drive Beth home, and he immediately responds, letting me know he’ll be out front in a few minutes. “I’ll walk you out.”

“Oh no,” Beth dismisses me. “I think I can find my way out of here. Have a good evening, you two.”

“You, too,” Troy says to her as she comes up to hug me.

“I’ll see you tomorrow for our playdate,” I tell her, squeezing her tightly with my free arm. “Love you.”

“Love you, too,” she beams before heading to the front door.

I turn and look up at Troy, my eyes studying his. “So, how was your day?”

He sighs, spinning me around and pinning me against the counter. “It was good. Romanos are happy with your father’s new investment, and Vitali’s still trying to convince us he’s worthy of a business deal.”

“I see…” my voice trails off. “I take it he just won’t let up.”

Troy shrugs. “He brought this all on himself. He’s the low man on the totem pole now, but that’s where he deserves to be. We ran him out once we forged the deal with Carlos Greco. It serves him right for trying to pit us all against each other. That I could have let go; business is business. It’s every man trying to better his operation, but don’t mess with my woman.”

I laugh. “You make it sound so devious.”

“Hardly devious when there’s a ring on her left hand,” Troy says, leaning down and kissing the top of my hand where my diamond ring rests. “There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t thank my lucky stars that I get to spend the rest of my life with you, Liz.”

“I have to say,” I tease him, running my finger down his tie. “I feel the same way.”

“Oh?” He raises an eyebrow. “I was starting to wonder.”

“No, you weren’t,” I laugh, shaking my head. “You know I’m still just as crazy about you as I was when we first met. I was just telling Beth how excited I am to start trying for a second baby.”

“Not yet, though…” His voice trails off as he gives me a curious expression. “Ella is only four months old. I don’t think I could handle Irish twins. That might make me go crazy.”

I giggle. “You’d be fine, but maybe when she’s a year old?”

“That sounds perfect to me,” he leans in, kissing my cheek. “Until then… we could get a lot of practice in. Making babies can be hard work, you know,” Troy growls as his lips trail down my jaw, not stopping until he’s nibbling on my earlobe.

“Ooh, so this is what you want to do with naptime?” I tip my head back as his hands glide down the front of my sweater, squeezing my breasts.

“I want to do it all the time,” he murmurs, “but naptime is as good a time as any.”

I would laugh, but a moan slips out instead as he grinds himself against my lower stomach, my arousal clouding my mind. His fingers tug at the button of my jeans, and I lean in to kiss his neck.

“I love you,” I murmur before pressing my lips to his skin.

He lets out a soft groan as I continue to kiss him, sucking his skin into my mouth. “I love you, too, Liz.”

Just as the button snaps open on my jeans, the baby monitor erupts with small cries from Ella. We freeze, pull away to look at each other, and then laugh.
