“Henry.”

She looked up at him.

“You can call me Henry.”

The elevator doors opened and Henry stepped out. She followed him down. He knocked on the door and then stood waiting. Gabriel surprised her again by opening the door to her.

“Thank you, Henry.” She nodded at his man, and then stepped inside.

Gabriel closed the door behind her and she noticed that his shirt was unbuttoned at the neck. He had his sleeves rolled up, showing off several of his tattoos, that she didn’t care to look at. A total lie.

“Henry?” he asked.

She lifted her gaze to his. “I figured if he’s going to keep taking me wherever you want me, I think it’s only polite to find out his name, so I can thank him.”

Gabriel smiled. “You are a polite little thing.”

“Where are we going?” she asked, wanting to change the subject.

“We’re not. We’re staying in.”

He walked away and this confused her. At first, she stood near his door in the main corridor, but then started to follow him. “What do you mean we’re staying in?”

She entered the kitchen and found him at the stove, stirring something. Faith refused to acknowledge the amazing smells that were making her mouth water. She didn’t need to know what he was cooking. It was probably good. Gabriel seemed to be good at everything he did.

“Is this hard for you to comprehend?” Gabriel asked. “We’re not going out.”

“I understand that, but what I don’t get is why you made me change.”

“You wear clothes that cover your body. You’re my toy and while we stay in, I want to see you.” He made a point of staring down the length of her body, and then back up, lingering on her breasts.

She was tempted to fold her arms across her chest, but she stifled the urge. The man was insufferable.

“Fine, then what are we doing while we’re staying in?” She wasn’t good at this conversation-making or dating, or doing anything with a man. She was awkward.

Faith hadn’t been around a lot of men. Not even at the store. Most of the time, the men ignored her and she dealt with wives and girlfriends, or sisters. That was the extent of it. She had no idea what to say to him. This was all a new experience for her.

Gabriel smiled at her, and she knew he did this a lot. She had no idea what he was thinking.

“What do people usually do when they stay home?” he asked.

“I have no idea.” For a long time now, she’d spent her time worrying about where her brother was. There hadn’t been much time for relaxing.

Gabriel chuckled. “We can do anything you want, which is obviously limited to what we do inside.”

She didn’t like the sound of this.

Being in his apartment opened up a whole load of new possibilities. She couldn’t stop thinking about last night. He hadn’t let her leave until he was ready to. Gabriel had only allowed her to leave after he fed her breakfast and coffee. Then his driver had taken her back to her home, where she had to rush to get dressed. Henry had also been waiting to take her to work as well, so she’d not been late.

“Have a seat,” he said.

There were three chairs at his kitchen counter. She was tempted to keep standing, but she didn’t want to. She’d been on her feet all day, and just wanted the rest. Lowering down into one of the chairs, she tried not to look over at him, but it was impossible.

Gabriel looked so different. He still possessed that terrifying aura, and she doubted it was ever going to change, but seeing him with his sleeves rolled up, getting into cooking, made him seem somewhat normal. She had no idea how that made him normal.

Glancing down the length of his body, she watched him, thinking back to last night, how he touched her, explored her body, and she wanted to feel him again inside her.

This was insane. This man had given her an ultimatum. In essence, he’d blackmailed her. If she didn’t become his toy, he’d hand her brother over to dangerous men who wouldn’t be quite so nice. What kind of person did that?

“Did you hear from Nigel today?” she asked.

“Yes.”

Okay, now she was surprised. She had to wonder if he was lying.

“And?”

“He’s doing what I’ve told him to do. That’s all you need to know.”

“You know he’s my brother.”

“Trust me, the only reason he’s in any way safe right now is because he’s your brother.”

This made her frown. “What is that supposed to mean?”

“He had something I wanted, and because of that, I was able to make him a deal. If you weren’t his sister, Nigel wouldn’t have stood a chance.”

“You can’t be serious.”

“I’m not the kind of man who jokes around. I’m in the market of making money, of doing business. I don’t offer charity.”
