She tried to show nothing of her unjustified feelings. Tim needed this. Without the blood, he couldn’t survive, but it hurt to know she’d never be enough for him.

“Um, no,” Adel said. “I’m fine. Unless you think I need a drink?”

Tim gave her a soft smile. “You won’t need a drink, unless you’re thirsty. Nothing alcoholic is permitted, in any event. Please, follow me. We’ll use one of the bedrooms upstairs.”

Lee cleared his throat. “Shall I take Maya out for dinner?”

Why did that hurt so much? Her being out of the way made sense. It would be better for both Tim and her.

“No,” Tim replied. “Maya is coming with us.”

Lee’s eyes widened. “Don’t do it, Tim.”

Maya stood rooted to the spot. The night Tim had marked her, he’d said he wanted her to witness his feeding, but she wasn’t sure she could handle it. She looked at the blonde. Adel was watching the exchange between Tim and Lee with a concerned expression.

“Tim, can we speak in private?” Lee asked.

“You can raise your concerns in front of the ladies,” Tim said. “This concerns them too.”

Lee hesitated, briefly glancing at Maya, and then said, “We both know how it is, man. This can destroy what you have with Maya. Don’t risk it.”

“This will destroy what we have if Maya has to wonder what’s going on behind that closed door,” Tim said, pointing upstairs.

Lee shifted his weight. “This is a bad idea.”

“Should I be worried about something?” Adel asked.

“No,” Lee said quickly. “It’s just that Maya is Tim’s woman, and if I bite you darling, I’ll come in my pants. I’m pretty sure it’ll be the same for any other man sinking his fangs into you. I don’t think it’s wise that Maya sees that.”

Adel relaxed slightly. “You promised it’ll be pleasurable.”

“Like nothing you’ve felt before.” Lee turned back to Tim. “If you give a flying fuck about Maya, let me take her out to dinner.”

“No,” Tim said gently but firmly. “The three of us—Adel, Maya, and I—are having a chat upstairs. I need you to wait here and take Adel home when she’s ready. Can you handle that?”

“Yeah.” Lee glanced at Maya again, his brow pleated. “All right.”

Surely she had a say in this. What if she really didn’t want to see what was going to happen upstairs? She could take on Lee or Cesar and floor them in a wrestle match, but she wasn’t sure she could watch Tim come in his pants while drinking Adel’s blood.

As if sensing her internal battle, Tim said, “Maya, do you trust me?”

She nodded without hesitation. In this, in everything that concerned her body and her passion, she did trust him.

“Then come with me, baby girl.”

Tim turned and went through the door. He waited for the women to follow before he led the way upstairs. Maya was relieved that he didn’t go his bedroom, but entered one of the spare rooms. When he closed the door behind him, both she and Adel were as tight as strings, Adel watching him with wariness.

“Lee told me I’d give my blood to a vampire,” Adel said. “What is this? A threesome?”

Tim loosened his tie. “No, sweetheart. Lee didn’t lie to you. Although, I’m not vampire, but dhampir. Before we carry on, I need you to know that you can walk out of here any second you choose. Understand?”

Her stance relaxed a little. “Okay.”

“I think we all need to loosen up some, and we need to talk about certain things, Adel.” He motioned at a sofa and two chairs arranged around a table in the corner. “Let’s have a seat over there.”

Maya and Adel each took a chair while Tim sat down on the sofa with his legs stretched out in front of him and his arm draped along the back. Adel pulled down the midnight-blue dress that barely covered her thighs. She had a generous cleavage, and if the way she was dressed was anything to go by, Maya guessed she was hoping for a bit more than a bite tonight.

“Adel, have you done this before?” Tim asked.

“Yes. I’ve donated blood to a vampire.”

“Then you know what to expect?”

“I guess. It was…” she glanced at Maya, “…very intense.”

“Thank you for supplying your blood work to Lee. That was very generous of you. I too, am clean, but if you’d like to see the latest lab results, I’ll ask my secretary to bring them up.”

“That’s all right.” Her gaze traveled over him. “I can see you’re a gentleman.”

The spark in the blue depths of Adel’s eyes made Maya’s claws want to come out.

“Thank you for your trust,” Tim said. “You’re safe with me. When did you have your last meal?”

“Two hours ago, as Lee requested.”

“Good. After your first time, did you feel faint or get dizzy?”

“Uh, yes. I passed out. As I said, it was very intense.”
