“I’m at a carnival or. . .circus?”

Dark grey elephants stalked by me with blue feathers sticking up from their heads. They were as big as houses. Their long trunks rose high, holding roses. Several women were upside down on the creature’s back, balancing on one hand.

Clowns danced onto the scene, wearing patchwork coats, baggy trousers, flapping shoes, silly hats, and bright red noses.

“Hey!” I yelled at them. “Can you get me off this thing?”

Giggling, they did back flips and hurried away. Another set of clowns sped by in a tiny car and honked my way.

“Wait! Hold up!” I looked up to see if someone else could help.

A female acrobat balanced on a tightrope. I squinted, thinking that might have been Quin up there. “Be careful.”

Not hearing me, she leaped and twirled across the tightrope.

“Somebody help me!”

The circus continued all around me and I slowly became intoxicated from the sounds, sights, and smells.

Then, suddenly, the noise calmed. The lights dimmed more.

A huge spotlight shone down on me, bathing my body in a bright glow.

“What?” I looked down at my body in horror. I wore a beautiful red beaded corset and thong that sparkled in the spotlight. The tiny beads of crystal glass refracted the light. Six inch heels covered my feet. “Why do I have this on?”

Cain’s voice boomed from the darkness. “And now, our next act. Feast your eyes on the beautiful Phoenix! Our captivating human target.”

The crowd roared with excitement. A few chanted, “Phoenix! Phoenix!”

“Me?” I frantically scanned the area and tried to get out of the restraints. “No. Not me. What the hell am I supposed to do?”

Cain stepped into the light and prowled into the ring. He wore a tuxedo that was black and satin with tails on the back of the jacket. A huge belt wrapped around his thick waist. Several shiny silver daggers dangled from the belt.

Cain raised his hands in the air. “Are we ready to see Phoenix bleed?!”

“What?” I froze. “No. No. We don’t want to see that!”

The crowd surged to a frenzy.

I tugged at the wrist straps. “Hell no!”

“Cut her up! Cut her up!” Their thundering, excited voices echoed off the tent’s walls. “Cut her up! Cut her up!”

“No. Don’t cut me!”

“Don’t try to break free, Phoenix.” Cain walked over to the far end of the ring and pulled a dagger from his belt. “We must give the people what they want.”

“Get me out of here!” I struggled against the straps.

“Cut her up!” the audience roared. “Cut her up!”

“Please!” I fought to try to get free. “No!”

“Quiet, everyone!” Cain raised a dagger high above his head. “I need silence.”

The crowd hushed.

I froze in horror.

Cain aimed my way.

My pulse sped up. My muscles tensed, and my chest heaved. “Cain, please don’t do this.”

“Shhh.” Then, he threw it.

Flying through the air, the knife spun round and round in circles so fast it appeared as a blur.

I screamed.

Boom.

The blade embedded itself in the wood with a thunderous crack, its tip piercing the wood just between my thighs and almost touching the lips of my pussy.

“Holy fuck.” I panted, desperately trying to catch my breath. “Too fucking close.”

“Yeah!” A man hooted. “Make that pussy bleed!”

Several laughed in the audience.

Trembling, I hung against the leather straps. “Cain, what are you doing?”

“Everything and more.” Fast, he pulled two daggers from his belt, raised his hands, and flung both at the same time.

Spinning through the air, the knives soared higher than the first.

A muffled cry left me. My heartbeats slammed hard in my chest.

Boom. Boom.

They buried themselves next to each side of my neck and pierced into the wood. The cold blades pressed against my skin.

I was shocked that no blood dripped nor did any pain come. “You’re going to kill me.”

Cain gave me a sexy wink. “Never that.”

“You almost did. That was too close.”

“I could never hurt you.” Cain pulled out four knives this time, holding two in each hand. “Don’t you know that no matter how many sharp things I have in my hands, you’ll never truly get cut.”

I shivered. “I don’t believe you.”

“You will one day.” He slung all four at me.

The daggers sliced through the air, spinning and twisting.

Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom.

Two landed above my head. The other two slammed under the knife between my spread thighs.

“Please, Cain! Let me go!”

“Never.” This time he pulled out even more daggers. There were so many I couldn’t count them. So many that I couldn’t figure out how he was able to hold them all.

“No, Cain! You’re going to kill me!”

“I could never do that.” He aimed and threw all of them fast.

My scream ripped through my throat. “No!”

Tons of knives sailed through the air, swerving and twirling, whirling and rushing toward me from all directions.

I closed my eyes.

Boom. Boom. Boom.

Over and over they slammed into the wood.

Boom. Boom. Boom.
