And by the look on her face, she thinks this is a social visit or the kind that will end in one or both of us climaxing on her bed.

Why can’t she just fade away like I want her to?

“I didn’t come here to get my rocks off. I’m here because I just watched the video of you and your friend on our porch, creepin’ in the windows.”

Shannon blinks, smile fading.

It takes her a minute for the words to register in her brain.

The tone of my voice.

“I…just wanted to know if you were home.”

At least she doesn’t deny it, though, it’s kind of hard to when I have the whole thing caught on camera.

“I wasn’t home.” I shift on my heels and cross my arms, closed off to this conversation.

“Well you’re here now! You should come in.” She pauses. “I missed you.”

Whoa.

Whoa, whoa, no.

No, no.

She missed me?

What the fuck bullshit is that.

She tries reaching for me again, but I step back, out of her reach.

Her brow furrows. “Come inside and let me make you feel good.”

“I didn’t come here to sleep with you. I came over because I was pissed you came to my house without an invitation.”

I know I sound like an asshole but too bad.

“I just told you. I came by because I miss you. That’s not a crime.” Her hands are planted on her hips, and I look down at her fingers—and the long, white talons she calls fingernails. “We should go out.”

And there it is.

“We’re not going out.” Ever.

“Why? I thought you liked me.”

“No, I was fucking you. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.”

Shannon laughs. “That’s not true. I know you like me. I know you said you don’t want to be in a relationship, but I know you like me. We can figure it out.”

Is she dense?

“Shannon. We were just fucking.”

Her mouth falls open. “Okay, now you’re being a dick.”

Her words do not faze me.

“No, I was being a dick before. You just weren’t listenin’.”

Shannon reconsiders her strategy. “I was listening. Did it occur to you that maybe I was hoping you’d change your mind?”

That makes me laugh. “What made you think I would change my mind?”

“Drake.” She says my name sharply. “It would be impossible not to care for someone you were sleeping with. Of course you can change your mind.”

I shrug. “But I didn’t.”

The fact is, I never considered anything but something physical with Shannon. In fact, I’ve told her in no certain terms over the past eight months we’ve been sleeping together—and have said the words out loud—this is only sex and I do not want a relationship.

When we started fucking each other, I hadn’t wanted a relationship with anyone; not her, not any female.

“All I’m saying is, it’s normal to have feelings for someone you’re sleeping with.” Her chin is high as she debates me—as if this is an argument she’s going to win.

“That’s unfortunate.”

She doesn’t know what to say to that, this much is clear.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

My shoulders rise and fall. “Guess I mean it’s too bad that didn’t happen for me. I did not catch feelings for you.”

Not even a one.

Sure, I like her. She’s sexy, and she’s fun in the sack, but we’ve never hung out outside of the bedroom, and I wouldn’t know if we have anything in common other than the way we like to fuck.

So this feelings business is a one-way street I have no intention of driving on.

“Wow. Now you’re just being mean.”

I bark out a laugh. “I’m being mean because I told you I don’t have feelings for you? Are you for real right now?”

Shannon’s hands have not left her hips. “Are you dumping me because you’re seeing someone?”

“Dumping you? We were never together.”

Jeezuz Christ.

“We were fucking. That is all.”

“Does your new girlfriend know that?” Her chin lifts defiantly.

Ahh. So she does know I’m dating someone—or at least, she suspects it.

Still, I don’t have to defend myself to someone I was only having sex with; it’s not my problem she refuses to let that sink into her pretty little head.

Not. My. Problem.

I turn my back, done with the discussion, walking home to the sound of her outraged screech when she slams her front door behind me.

fifty

Every day I like him more. Except yesterday. Yesterday he was really annoying.

Drake:

If I said I missed you, would you throw up in your mouth, or would you think it was cute?

Daisy:

Probably a little bit of both, if I’m being honest.

Good answer LOL

Are you asking ’cause you miss me?

I might.

It’s been a long day.

Aw you poor thing. I’d come over, but I just got home and have to shower and write a paper for my English class.

You can come to my house and write it from bed. I have power cords wink wink.

Did you just make the word “power cord” sexual?
