To hell with not using my arms. I could keep my legs the way they were without support. I reached for him, needing my arms around him, and I dug my heels into the soft flesh of his ass cheeks.

Even as the fire roared within, the pain almost unbearable, I had to make it clear I didn’t want him to go easy on me. All I wanted was to give him pleasure.

“Use me.” I cupped the back of his neck and kissed his jaw. “Take whatever you want from me.”

He drew a deep breath and slid a hand to my throat. “What if I take too much?”

So be it.

“Your table will be ready in just a moment,” the host assured.

“Thank you.” I nodded.

“Excuse me, is Macklin working tonight?” Jack asked.

“He should be,” I said. “I saw the flag outside.”

Tate had informed me that Macklin loved to follow royal gossip, and it was a funny thing he’d started—if the restaurant flag was up outside the door, Macklin was in the house.

The host grinned. “Yes, he’s in his office. Would you like me to relay a message?”

“Just tell him Jack Dune is here,” Jack answered.

Jack Dune had also spent the entire day in my bed.

I’d probably never been this relaxed in my life. Not to mention sore. My God, I was sore everywhere. And weirdly clingy. I didn’t want to let go of his hand, so I didn’t. Hours of fucking, napping, engaging in pillow talk—for the first time ever, for me—and eating waffle leftovers in bed, I felt deliriously happy. And he didn’t seem to mind I’d fused myself to him.

We huddled to the side as more people entered the restaurant, and I shuddered at a harsh wind that snuck by before the door closed.

I’d actually never been here for dinner before. It was a lovely building. Once upon a time, it’d been residential. It sat on the corner of a busy intersection in Logan Circle, and Macklin had turned the place into a popular restaurant with several dining rooms across two floors and a rooftop terrace.

Said rooftop terrace was the location for our monthly munch, of which I had attended precisely one—right after the fire out in Mclean.

“You should definitely move here and join the community,” I said. “This is where we host our munches.”

“I know.” He smiled up at me and wrapped his arms around my middle. “Would you be able to resist me if I lived here permanently, though?”

Cocky little hellion.

Valid question, however.

“I’m not sure…” I dipped down and kissed his smile. “You’re quite irresistible.”

He hummed and gave me a quick taste of his tongue. “Ditto, Daddy.”

Fuck.

We should’ve ordered in. We could be in bed right now. I hadn’t gotten enough of him.

Was such a thing possible where he was concerned?

We hadn’t even been overly kinky in that sense either. We’d just…taken our time to explore each other’s bodies. Over and over. Granted, he’d been in charge, and he knew how to make me beg.

We’d talked a lot about fantasies and limits too. I sensed that was why he hadn’t let me fuck him. He was saving something for tonight. He wanted me to get myself into trouble by crossing a line.

Oh, I would cross it.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, our foreheads resting together, and let the contentment flood my senses.

Jack was causing a change in me, and I couldn’t help but follow along obediently like a dog. Affection was otherwise something I wanted to be careful with. Playtime with Kingsley and Tate, for instance—I’d spent the night with them once, and that’d been enough. I preferred to come home at the end of the evening. I didn’t want to linger for very long past aftercare. It was too intimate. Too private. And here I was, wondering if I could convince Jack to stay with me for the rest of the week rather than at the hotel.

“Do you have work tomorrow?” I murmured.

How glorious it was to be able to shut out the noise of my surroundings and exist in a bubble with Jack.

“I have a meeting at eleven.” He kissed my jaw. “Should be done by two or three.”

That was a long meeting. Hell.

“Well, I’ll be home by noon, so… With absolutely no plans until nine PM on Wednesday.”

“What happens then?” he wondered.

I went with a very subtle hint. “I’m going utterly dateless with Tate and Kingsley to see a friend’s band at a punk rock festival in Alexandria.”

Jack’s eyes lit up with amusement. “My uncle Franklin has friends who’re into punk rock? Who the fuck are you?”

I sniffed and pretended to be offended. “I’ll have you know I was listening to Sex Pistols when you were in diapers.”

He laughed and dropped his forehead to my shoulder. “That’s too funny. I can’t picture it.”
