But there’s a chance now that Gage is gone. A chance I will never see him again, that he will never meet his child. A chance I’ll never get a chance to tell him I love him.

And I do love him, even if I fear him. Even if there are trust issues.

“God, I’m a mess…” I groan as I take my tea into the living room and slump down onto the couch. As I blow on my tea to cool it, I pull out my phone and scroll through some of the news headlines. Celebrity gossip, politics that I go right past. But then something catches my eye.

Corruption Exposed Within FBI.

My heart rate instantly skyrockets as I click the article.

Jake Cruz, former head of Organized Crime Investigation within the FBI was arrested two days ago after evidence was presented that implicates him as the actual boss of the criminal organization the FBI had been investigating for the past two years.

“Oh my God…”

This arrest comes after a series of murders within that organization. It is unclear at this point as to whether or not those murders were ordered by Mr. Cruz or were due to some sort of internal power struggle, but the investigation has been taken over by another branch of the FBI. This will, however, leave a strain on the bureau for years to come.

My heart is absolutely pounding. I sit up too quickly and knock my tea glass with my knee, spilling it all over the floor.

“It…it can’t be…”

“It can, angel.”

Gage’s voice from behind me causes me to nearly leap into the air. I spin around to see him standing there, eyes brilliant and fierce, a slight smile on his face. He looks even sexier than ever in navy blue pants and a salmon red polo that barely fits his broad shoulders.

So many emotions cascade through me at once that I don’t know how to process them. I point my phone screen at him and nearly shout, “You! Was this you?”

He nods. “Yes, angel. I told you I would prove you could trust me, didn’t I?”

“Those men…” I whisper. “That wasn’t your boss. That was you?”

“They weren’t going to stop, Billie. Not until both you and I were dead. So I did what I had to do to protect you, angel—”

Without thinking, I drop my phone and throw myself into his arms. His scent drives me instantly wild, and the feeling of his hands gripping my hips as he holds me is like I’m coming home from a long journey. It’s been five months but feels like five years, especially with this massive revelation crashing down on me.

“I…I should have trusted you—”

“No,” he whispers, his lips brushing against my ear. “You had every right, angel. All that matters is that we’re together now. Will you take me back now, angel? Do you think you can trust me?”

I lean back so I’m looking directly in his eyes. He’s so gorgeous. After five months, his good looks are even more striking. I place both my hands on his cheeks, lean in and kiss him. “Yes,” I nod. “Yes, Daddy. Let me be your little girl again.”

Gage grins and pulls me tighter. He slips a hand up my shirt but stops before he reaches my breast. His eyes go wide, and I bite my lower lip in expectation as I watch the realization come over his face.

“Angel…” he says slowly. “Are you…?”

I nod. “Yes! I’m pregnant, Daddy. You’re going to be a father.”

Gage’s eyes light up, and his chest expands as he takes an enormous breath. The next thing I know, I’m on my back, but not on the couch, on the bed in the master bedroom. I haven’t been sleeping here these past five months. I’ve been sleeping in the guest room. I guess part of me was leaving this room for later, on the off chance that things that Gage would return and things would be all better like the ending of one of my books.

His fingers go to the waistband of my sweats, and I raise my hips to let him pull them off me. Warmth spreads over my entire body. The warmth of home, of being owned, of being claimed. The warmth of submitting to a man who I now fully trust and who I know truly know will do anything for me.

I know I doubted him, but now I truly can hardly remember why, or even recall that emotion.

His hands caress my belly and move up. He lifts my shirt and exposes my breasts.

“Wow, angel. You’ve grown.”

I giggle. “A whole cup size already. Do you like them?”

Gage’s response is a simple, lustful smile as he leans down and wraps his lips around each of my nipples. My back arches as he gently sucks each of them, and I writhe beneath him, filled with fiery lust and wild love brewing inside me like a storm.
