“He’ll be here for Thanksgiving.” Butterflies dance in my stomach at the thought. I’ve never actually had a man over to my house before.

“Tell him to bring his brother.”

“What, why? Are you trying to set me up?” She gets defensive, and I roll my eyes at her…though what would be the harm in that?

“No, but they are twins and do most things together. If Miller didn't have plans already for Thanksgiving, I’m thinking neither does his brother.”

“True.” She gives me a skeptical look but sends the text for me. She and I might not be twins, but we’re as close as Miller and Frost.

“What now?” I ask when I see her still texting. We’re at a red light this time, and I try to get my phone back.

“I asked if you were exclusive. The whole boyfriend-girlfriend thing is weird to say when you’re in your twenties.

“There is nothing ‘boy’ about Miller.” I let out a small sigh, and I feel myself start to get turned on again. What has he done to my body? I don’t know, but somehow he’s in full control of it.

“Here you go.” Cookie suddenly hands me my phone back. “I think he just threatened death to any man that touches you.”

I laugh as I tuck it back into my purse. “He’s teasing.” At least I think he is. “I’ve noticed that Russian men are more direct.” And they follow through with what they say.

I never thought kneeling in front of a man would get me off, but Miller somehow has woken up this need inside of me. I crave his dominance, which is a surprise to both of us. After he dropped me off this morning, I tried to make myself cum again in the shower, but I couldn't because he’s ruined me.

“Park here, they have lots of cute shops and we can grab lunch too.” This is a double win. I can get my mind off Miller for a while and hang out with my sister.

“Are you really thinking about moving back here?” Cookie asks as we walk down the sidewalk. I know she wants me to, but she wants me to choose it for myself.

“It’s a pay cut, but then we could do this all the time,” I answer. I love my family, and it’s been so hard being away from them.

“Or get a place together.”

My mind flashes to Miller and moving in with him. I know it’s way too soon, but I can’t help my thoughts. Cookie grabs me by the arm and stops me from walking. She nods toward the little restaurant across the street and I stare with wide eyes.

There is no mistaking it’s Miller, but what catches me off guard is the woman he embraces. When she cups his cheeks and leans in, I turn around, not wanting to see any more.

“Don’t jump to conclusions,” Cookie says.

It’s in this moment I know how much I care for Miller. In such a short time I’ve fallen hard, because this stings right now. I think how much further I could fall and how he has the power to shatter me.

“Let's go home,” Cookie suggests, and all I can do is nod. “We can make the pies ourselves. It will be fun.”

I’m not sure what’s going on here, but I know that I need to protect my heart.

Chapter Fourteen

Miller

I didn’t want to leave Pumpkin this morning, and it took everything I had to drag us both out the door and leave her at her parents’ house. If it wasn’t for our meeting with our parents, I would have never left her side. But Frost and I need to get this over with.

“You look like a cat that ate the canary,” Frost says when I pull up outside his house. I needed to drive today so that I could control when we left and how long we stayed.

“I have had my fill,” I answer in Russian, and he pauses to look at me for a moment.

“So you love her?” When I nod, he shakes his head. “You’re a fool.”

“You are jealous.” I steer the car away from the curb as he looks away from me and out the window.

“You will end up a miserable old man, and I will not be a part of it.” He curses as he rolls down the window and the cold air blows in.

I wait silently for him to get all of his anger out and I see his hands clench in his lap.

“Did we not swear to never marry?”

“We were children,” I remind him, but he shakes his head.

“I can’t give you my blessing.”

“You can, and you will.”

“I won’t.” He looks over at me then as I come to a stoplight.

“You can.” I pause as we exchange a look that doesn’t need words. “And you will.”
