The workshop—now demolished with overturned shelves and broken tools—stood witness to the raw power of male emotion. The kind of emotion that can only be wrested when a woman is involved.

The gleam in Denver’s eyes says he knows, and he couldn’t be happier about it.

“What is this about?” He picks at a fingernail.

Silence.

It’s not the best response, but it’s the only one Leo and I can give in unison. We didn’t have time to collaborate on a story, and we sure as hell can’t mention Frankie. Doing so would land us firmly in Denver’s trap. He wants us to care about her. He needs us to fight over her.

We’re fucked.

“Come here.” He crooks his finger at Leo and calmly waits.

Leo shoves off the floor but refuses to take another step.

Don’t do this, fucknut. Pick your battles.

My brother glances at me, and a pained expression crosses his bloody, swollen face. If he disobeys Denver, I’ll pay the price. Another knife through my hand. More lashes on my back. Or worse.

I may not be able to count on him to keep his dick in his pants, but he would never offer me up for a punishment if it can be avoided.

So I’m not surprised when he pushes back his shoulders, lifts his chin, and steps toward Denver until the toes of their boots touch.

“That was some argument.” Denver grips Leo’s jaw, turning his face this way and that, examining the damage. “You’re learning.”

Leo closes his eyes, wisely refusing to ask what that means.

Soundlessly, I climb to my feet.

“You’re learning how good it is.” Denver drifts closer, bringing his nose to Leo’s stubble, his mouth to Leo’s mouth, breathing, inhaling, nearly kissing him. “Learning how good she smells. How good she tastes.”

“Get the fuck off me.” Leo stumbles back, shoving Denver away.

Fucking hell, Leo. Please, tell me you didn’t go down on her. You’re not that stupid.

“Her pussy is all over your face, Son.” Denver licks his lips. “It’s divine, isn’t it?’

Fuck, fuck, fuck.

There’s nothing I can do. Defending him would only confirm his guilt and my knowledge of it.

“She’s a frigid bitch. Fought me the whole time.” Leo plasters on a sneer and lifts a shoulder. “I got a taste. Nothing more. Nothing special. Maybe if you brought us a girl with more meat on her bones, I would’ve taken the bait.”

He’s lying through his goddamn teeth, and Denver knows it.

“Yeah?” Denver hooks his thumbs in his pockets and rocks on his heels. “Then you won’t mind if I try her out?”

“Go ahead. Why should I care?”

That’s the pivotal question. If Leo doesn’t care, if none of us care, my brothers and I won’t be part of this. Denver will have no leverage, no bargaining power, and Frankie will be collateral damage. Just like the others.

But if Leo is already invested in her, or if Wolf or I are, how far will we go to stop Denver from hurting her?

That’s the game.

I can kill Denver. My gaze lands on the wrench lying a few feet away. I can beat him until he can’t walk. I can tie him up and torture him until he starves.

But one thing is certain. Denver will never give in. He’ll die in this place, tortured and starved, before ever agreeing to fly us out of here.

And we’ll starve right along with him.

“Very well.” Denver sighs. “I hoped one of you would be interested in her.”

“She’s your type, Dad.” Leo’s eyes darken. “Not mine.”

His jab is bold, calling him Dad and hinting at things we don’t talk about.

My skin crawls.

If Denver picks up on it, he doesn’t show it. “You can’t afford to be selective. At the end of the day, all you really need is a warm night of pleasure, a soft body to curl into…”

“If I get cold, I can spoon Wolf.” He composes a teasing smile and aims it at me. “What about you, Kody? Do you have any use for her?”

“I don’t want to share a room with her.” I keep my voice steady, despite the storm lashing inside me. “Let alone a bed.”

“Wolf will trade rooms with you.” Denver narrows his eyes. “He likes her.”

“Wolf doesn’t know what he likes. He gets overwhelmed picking out his clothes every day.”

An exaggeration. Wolf would jump at the opportunity to fuck any woman.

“We’ll see. But if Wolf shares your disinterest, I won’t let her go to waste.” Denver winks at Leo. “Especially not after getting a whiff of that sweet cunt on your face.”

I hold my breath, waiting for Leo to do something stupid.

But he doesn’t.

“She’s all yours.” With a shrug, he turns back to the snow machine and starts gathering the scattered parts.

“Clean this mess before you leave tomorrow.” Denver strides to the exit. “And patch up your faces. I don’t want you scaring my girl.”
