I just lie there and stare at him for a while. I don’t know how long, but after a while, he stirs and opens his eyes and looks at me. Yeah, I could get used to waking up to these eyes.

“Good morning, handsome,” I say softly.

He smiles at me like I’m the light of his world. Nothing has ever made me feel more important in all my life. I’m sore from last night, which just serves as a reminder of how much closer we are together now. And it’s not just the sex—it’s the way we’ve bonded. It’s the way he holds me when we’re finished. It’s the stolen glances we share together. It’s that magical moment up on the roof. It’s little tiny moments like this that feel like there’s an invisible cord between us holding us together.

“Hey, gorgeous.” He smiles. “You’re a pretty face to see in the morning.”

“Likewise,” I giggle. “But I’d use the word handsome for you.”

He brushes back my hair, causing my heart to flutter and my erogenous zones to pulse. I haven’t even gotten out of bed yet, and I’m feeling naughty all over. The things this man does to me, I swear.

“I called you Daddy,” I giggle, pulling the sheets up to cover my face.

“And?” Grant chuckles. “How’d it feel?”

“I never pictured myself doing that,” I reply.

“I bet you never pictured yourself doing a lot of what you did last night,” he counters. “And, baby, there’s a whole lot more you’re going to do that I bet you never pictured either.”

My body is pulsing even more. My heart is fluttering like it’s going to fly right out of my throat and zip around the room like a little bird. I’m tingling all over for him right now, and it has nothing to do with being nervous anymore. It has to do with just how much I love this man.

“I should probably shower before this big wedding event today,” he says with a heart—and panty—melting grin. “Care to join me?”

“Now that’s an invitation I can’t turn down,” I reply. Grant leans in and kisses me, and it’s like I’m a rocket being shot into space. I can barely even keep my lips against his because of the enormous smile breaking out across my face.

“What’s so funny?” he asks as he starts laughing.

“Nothing!” I giggle.

“Well, you’re laughing,” he says as he gets out of bed, pointing an accusatory finger at me. God, he looks so incredible.

“I’m not laughing!” I protest. “I’m just—I’m so happy.”

He’s smiling back. If charming needed a photo beside it in the dictionary, Grant’s portrait would more than suffice.

“Well, that makes two of us then,” he says, coming around the bed toward me. “Because I’ve never been this happy in my life.”

His words nearly knock me down. I’m just overheating inside.

I can see he’s going to snatch me up, but I don’t even give him a chance; I leap into his arms and throw my legs around his waist. We manage to actually kiss this time, passionately and deeply. But are immediately interrupted by a knock at the door.

“Oh my God–” Grant groans.

“What is that?” I sigh.

“I’ll get it,” he offers.

“No, it’s okay,” I reply. “You go ahead and hop in the shower. I’ll deal with whoever this is and join you in a second.”

“No, no,” Grant protests, searching for a pair of pants to slip into. “It’s all right–”

But I’m already throwing on a robe and heading for the door. I wave my hand at him as I slip into it completely. “It’s easier this way,” I tell him. “See? I’m already dressed. Go ahead, I’ll be right in!”

Grant looks at me and smirks. “Okay, baby. I’ll see you in a second. But don’t take too long! Don’t let whoever that is interrupt our time together.”

I blow him a kiss, and once he’s safely disappeared into the bathroom, I open the door to find a suited man—clearly one of the staff—standing in front of me, holding a package. He presents it formally. “From the bride.”

“Oh, um…okay,” I reply, taking it from him. “Thank you.”

He smiles, turns, nods, and heads back down the hall.

I close the door and sit back on the bed. I can hear the sound of the shower from the bathroom as I open the package and find a pearl necklace inside. Not real pearls, I’m sure, but still quite nice-looking.

There’s a small note beside it that reads:

For the wedding—McKenzie

And then it clicks. I’m assuming all the other bridesmaids will get one too. I hadn’t even thought of that until this moment, but I guess it makes sense. Same dresses, same necklaces. We’ll probably all be having our hair done the same way later on this afternoon as well.

I set the necklace with its box aside and get up to go join Grant in the shower. I’m already tingling all over with anticipation, but that’s when I hear the faint sound of some kind of electronic alert from just behind me.
