“You still gonna wanna tap this mom, even when she’s three times the size I am now?” I ask, trying to joke about it but really worrying that Ethan might not want me once I get really big.

“I don’t just wanna be a big baby factory,” I sigh. “I still want you to…,” I trail off.

Ethan’s hands are on me, silencing me instantly, and he makes a low growling sound.

“I keep telling you, Krissy,” he reminds me. “I love you no matter what size you are. But the bigger, the better,” he affirms, letting his hands stray to places that he knows always stop my whining and start making other sounds.

Baby making sounds.

“We can still…? Can’t we?” he asks with a tone of hesitation. “With two in there, I mean. Is it okay to do that?” he quizzes me, looking thoughtful and making me purr.

“Why don’t you come on over and find out?” I whisper, pulling his head down to my chest by his hair.

Both of us are doing what comes naturally on a couple’s wedding night.

And with the best presents ever growing inside me, I know I’ll remember my wedding night as fondly as I do my first time with Ethan.

Every touch, kiss, and word from him feels just as magical and special as it did all those months ago.

EPILOGUE

TWO YEARS LATER

Ethan

It took some doing, but we managed to get our side of the ‘house’ as Krissy likes to call it, ready for the twins.

And just in time, they both wanted out into the world a little early, but both babies, Zak and Emily, are healthy, and their mom and dad couldn’t be prouder or happier.

The rest of the estate is back to its former self, with all the old sections renovated or rebuilt. The lagoon is filled again, and there is plenty of room for the five of us.

Krissy is pregnant again, which gives me more joy than she can appreciate some days. But she really is the hottest woman alive when she’s carrying.

“You wanna get that one?” Krissy asks me sleepily. Not even needing to ask or nudge me to see if I’m awake.

I can’t sleep some nights anyway. Just lying here in bed with Krissy in my arms.

Knowing we have two beautiful babies, and another one is growing inside her.

How can I sleep? It’s the greatest feeling in the world.

And every day, we’re able to get up and do it all again.

“I’m on my way,” I whisper to Krissy, pecking her cheek before I slide out of bed. The sounds of wriggling and gurgling twins have me across the hall to their room in record time.

The twins used to have their own cribs, blue for Zak and pink for Emily. But what we thought was teething that made them so grouchy was really just the two of them wanting to stay together.

They play all day together, so it must’ve felt like baby jail to have to be behind wooden bars when it was time to sleep.

I learned a thing or two from the contractors working on the place, so I engineered a double cot, half pink and half blue.

We rarely hear a peep out to them when they go down now. But even I admit, tonight it really does sound like they’re planning something big in there.

Hearing me creeping in, they both go quiet. Little Zak even shuts his eyes and pretends to be asleep again.

But I know these two angels well enough. And once I scoop up Emily to check if she needs changing, Zak’s eyes pop open, and he giggles at me as only a baby can.

Emily laughs back at him, and I know their plan has worked in a second.

Wake dad up, have him come snuggle with us.

There’s no way I’d risk trying to get in their cot, but we have a big pair of recliner chairs set up by the fireplace.

And more times than not, that’s where mom and dad nurse, burp, or snuggle with their babies.

With one tiny body cradled in each of my arms, I hold them close, feeling how warm they are. Smelling that baby smell that I know I’ll miss someday from these two as they grow up.

“You fell for it again?” Krissy yawns, scratching her belly in the doorway. Her fluffy robe is hanging open. Her pajamas underneath on backward.

“Yeah. Yeah, I did,” I confess, smiling down at each of them and smiling back at Krissy.

“You feeling okay?” I whisper to her, and she makes her way over to us, curling up with me on my chair, which is about three times her size.

“I’m okay…now,” Krissy murmurs, kissing each of the babies and then me, curling herself up next to me like a cat.

I flick on the big screen TV, but with the sound down.

It’s not my idea either. The twins like the huge nightlight that it is to their young eyes, and it keeps them busy while they watch all the colors and shapes of people doing whatever on TV.
