And into Krissy a little later on. Maybe after dinner, instead of playing Levenson’s stupid game…do we really need his money?

No. But it would be nice to have something from the casino that Krissy could use to remember how we first met.

“If you’re gonna stay the weekend, you’ll need some things,” I tell Krissy.

I want to get her mind and body away from work, away from that damned casino for just a few hours.

Show her how a girl like her should be treated. The life she has waiting for her if only she’d believe it’s already happening right in front of her.

“Okay?” I ask, double-checking she really is okay.

Relieved when she nods furiously. Suddenly looking like a girl who’s about to go shopping probably should.

“Yeah!” she chirps. “I was listening…just thinking too.” She grins. “Thinking about how quickly things can change. I mean, we only met last night, and here we are.”

“And to think I wasn’t gonna stick around after my meeting last night….,” I remark. My voice trails off.

Jesus…if I did leave, I would never have met Krissy. I’d be exactly where I was yesterday, and so would she. Both of us would be miserable.

Now it’s her turn to ask if I’m okay, noticing me slowing my steps down as it hits me.

“What is it?” Krissy asks, concerned.

“I don’t mind going shopping. I really don’t. And I’m not mad you managed to get me off work either,” she confesses.

Smiling, I can’t help but lean in and kiss her again.

“What was that for?” she asks, enjoying me being so spontaneous.

“Just for being you. If I had left before the Pearl Room last night, I’d have never met you. That’s what just occurred to me,” I tell her.

The wheels of her mind are turning, and I can see she feels the same about it as I do.

She shivers slightly, and I pull her closer. “But you did meet me,” she affirms.

“And you’re not going anywhere without me,” I remind her.

Both of us are feeling it.

A deeper connection that’s somehow more special now that we’ve thought of what life would’ve been like if we’d never met.

This is the part where I feel like saying those three little words.

But like Krissy was hesitant to tell me about her being a virgin, I don’t wanna scare her off by telling her I love her.

It’s all happening so fast. But not fast enough for me, really.

I can already see us in a big house someplace full of kids. I don’t wanna blow that by coming on too strong on our first….

“Date,” Krissy says, suddenly breaking my train of thought. “Is this like our first date?” she asks, looking up at me, squeezing my hand again.

“I guess it is.” I smile. Knowing I have a free license to spoil her rotten now.

“And tonight, after dinner…well, maybe we could go on just more than a date?” I suggest making her shiver again and flush red in her round cheeks.

“I’ve never been on a real date,” she murmurs quietly.

We have this in common because I don’t remember ever going on a real date with anyone either.

“Me neither,” I tell her, but she doesn’t seem to believe me.

“I haven’t,” I tell her firmly. Almost ruining the mood, but damn it, she needs to know.

“Next, you’ll tell me you’ve never gambled so much money before or ever bought clothes off the rack,” she teases me, tickling my ribs as we reach the entrance to a mini-mall filled with designer boutiques.

The kind of stores they put right opposite places where people with money hang out.

“Uh…yeah,” I tell her, enjoying her teasing me a little and feeling more than just fun when she pokes her tongue out at me.

She’s so damned cute, no matter what she’s doing.

I kiss her again, unable to help myself, and it’s a little while before we’re ready to shop.

Using Krissy as a human shield for my bulging crotch as we walk in, I realize maybe shopping and kissing her might have to be kept separate.

My need for her is growing by the second already.

“So… Is it a casual or formal date?” Krissy asks, and I’m happy to bring the conversation back to her.

“A bit of both. If you’re up to dinner later?” I ask.

I feel as though I’m meeting her for the first time with the feeling her look gives me.

“I’d like that,” she says. “My first real date and getting paid for it,” she muses aloud.

“What’s not to love about that?”

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Krissy

Being in the casino with Ethan is one thing, but out in public makes me more conscious of my appearance than usual.

He’s quick to remind me that he doesn’t care what people think, and he’s probably used to people staring at him based on his size alone.

And even though he’s proud to be seen out with me, I can feel eyes on me once we enter the first designer boutique. Ethan is oblivious to everything except his promise to not leave until we both shop ‘til we drop.
