“You know, she’s a strange one,” Dwayne said, shoving a few of his bags in the car. Caleb was taking him out camping for the weekend, which was more than fine with Beast. “No one understands her.”

Out of the two of them, Caleb liked to get back to nature. It seemed to balance him between the monster he became to the outside world.

“No man is ever supposed to understand a woman, Dwayne. That’s the point of them being different.”

Dwayne laughed. “Yeah, but she’s more than that, and it scares a lot of people at school.” He shrugged. “You sure you don’t want to take her with us?”

Beast glanced back at the house and saw she was standing in the library. When she caught them both looking, she held her hand up, giving them a wave.

“I’m sure.”

Keeping control of his patience, he waited for Dwayne and Caleb to both be gone before he headed back into the house.

There was no soldier in sight, as he’d asked them to keep a perimeter outside. He didn’t want any interruptions this evening.

She stood at the top of the open staircase, and he caught sight of the ankle-length skirt she wore. She also had on a shirt. Even as she covered every inch of skin, he knew the curves of her body, how big her tits were as they strained against the buttons holding them together.

The skirt dipped in at her waist, highlighting her hips and thighs.

It wouldn’t be long before he had them wrapped around him.

Neither of them spoke as he grabbed hold of the banister and began to make his way toward her. With each step he took, he imagined her backing out, telling him she’d changed her mind.

She didn’t say a word even as he climbed the last step, closing that distance between them. He’d not spoken to her since their conversation in the library, nor had he shared a meal with her. In fact, he’d purposely left her alone to see how she could handle what was going on between them, and if she’d back out.

Taking her hand, without a word he made his way back to where their rooms were. Once outside his door, he pressed her against it, cupping her cheek, running his thumb across her lip.

“I’ve not brought a woman here before,” he said, finally breaking through the silence. “I never bring women here.”

She nodded.

“Do you want to come into my room?” he asked. “Before you answer that I want to warn you. I don’t always play nice. I’m not a nice person, Hope. Don’t think this is more than sex. It’s not.”

“I’m not asking for anything else, Beast. I’m not wearing my heart on my sleeve. I’m not sticking around, remember? This isn’t going to change that.”

“Good girl.” He opened the door. Reaching in, he flicked the light on and closed it behind him.

His room was basic. The layout was the exact same as hers, only his bed was a little larger and more rounded as he liked plenty of space when he slept. His sheets were black silk, and the walls pure white.

He didn’t need anything more than a bed and doors which opened, leading onto a veranda where he could overlook the garden.

She spun in a circle, taking in everything.

Finally, her gaze returned to him. Removing his jacket, he placed it on one of the chairs he had in his room.

“Strip.”

“You’re not big on romance.”

“I’m not going to have you believing shit that doesn’t exist.”

“You don’t think romance exists?”

“I know it doesn’t.”

“Then you’ve not been around the right people. You love Dwayne.”

He stared at her. “I never said I love him.”

“But you take care of him. You always make sure he’s okay.”

“That’s not love. It’s obligation.”

She smiled. “Okay.” He was sure that wasn’t really okay. Her gaze remained on him as she began to open the buttons of her shirt. “Are you trying to scare me off?”

“No.” He wasn’t. Tugging his own shirt off, he advanced toward her, halting her progress, realizing that he wanted to be the one to take her clothes off.

He took charge, opening the buttons of her shirt and moving the fabric down her arms. The simple white bra lace against her skin reminded him that she was new to all of this, that she could believe in hearts, flowers, and all the crap the rest of the world wanted to believe.

“I’m not running,” she said.

“That’s your mistake, but now I’m not going to let you go.” Cupping her face, he slammed his lips down on hers, tasting her once again. She touched his hips, and he pulled her against him, needing her close.

The bra covering her tits was an obstruction he didn’t want. With a single snap of the strap, he had it undone, and her tits fell free. Cupping the mounds, he relished her cries, wanting them to never stop.
