“How incredibly cute,” Louisa gushes.

“It’s really not. It’s rather irritating and disrespectful,” I insist, but no one is listening to me.

Eliza beams. “We’re all named after Jane Austen characters, except Austen. She’s named after the literacy queen herself.”

“A name that fits her perfectly,” he muses, and I meet his gaze, which is a very bad idea. The fact that he is enjoying this is all over his face, amusement deep in those eyes, taunting me. “Well, I was actually about to head out, but I think I’ll wait a bit longer. Maybe I can learn more about this Nazi-type camp.”

Absolutely not. “No, you can leave.”

“Or we can ignore her,” Louisa says. “Since Austen is so bothered by the fact that you’re here and so are we.”

“I love ignoring her,” Eliza retorts.

“Really? It’s hard for me,” Dimitri says, that smirk on his face teasing me and making me want to smack it right off his gorgeous face.

“I will not be ignored, nor am I bothered,” I retort, meeting Eliza’s maddening gaze. “I am a little nervous you two will tell Peepaw, which can’t happen.”

Eliza holds up her hand. “I’m not telling anyone.”

“Nor I,” Louisa adds. “We wouldn’t want either of you to be in trouble.”

Dimitri shrugs. “I doubt we’d get in trouble, but it could be frowned upon.” He tips his chin toward me. “She is my superior.”

Why does he say superior like the word means sex?

I cover my face with my hands, breathing through my nose to keep from cussing at all of them. I know my sisters hear it too because when I drop my hands, knowing my face is on fire, their eyes widen as they fight back their laughter.

“So, did Austen read as a child?” he asks, leaning on the couch and cupping his chin.

“This is where we ignore him,” I tell them, and that has everyone laughing.

“Oh yeah. Austen has always been a reader,” Eliza answers, betraying me completely.

“Wow, thanks, Eliza.”

No guilt is in her eyes.

Meanwhile, Dimitri asks, “Has she always been into spicy books?”

I ignore him, moving across the room to the couch. I’m reaching for my bag when I see my book on the coffee table. That’s not where I left it. I whip around, and Dimitri just stands there, with no shame, no remorse, nothing but pure amusement, knowing I know he read my book.

He rocks on his heels, and without missing a beat, he says, “Oh yes, Janie. I read it.”

Heat flushes every single inch of me as my insides clench and my stomach almost falls out of my ass. A million butterflies take flight in my gut, and I feel like I may pass out.

He. Read. My. Vampire. Sex. Book.

“And I have so many questions and so much to discuss. Have you gotten to the part where he hangs upside down like a bat and eats her out?”

I bend over, squeezing my thighs with my fingers to keep from smacking him upside his dumbass head.

“What the hell is the name of this book, and can I borrow it?” Eliza yells.

“Oh, it’s awesome. Claudius is a fucking trip, man.”

Oh my God, he said the hero’s name. From his mouth, he said the name of the guy I sometimes dream about. “From the moment he meets Lizza, bro, he is between her legs. He sucks blood from her tits, her ass, her pussy. I mean, good God. He is all about her.”

Louisa grabs it quickly—easily, too, since I can’t move or even breathe. I have imagined a man saying “pussy,” and it always made me squirm, but the way Dimitri says it, the way his eyes darken with each syllable, that accent, brings me close to release.

“Janie, you good? Are you breathing? Do you need some water to cool you down?” he asks me, and I don’t even know how to respond or even what to say. My sisters are reading the back of the book. Everyone is giggling and excited as I try to recover, while Dimitri stands there just grinning like a damn fool!

“Austen, Lord, I didn’t know you were into this. I knew you were the freaky one of us all.”

“I’m about to jump out the window,” I inform them, snatching the book and putting it in my bag, much to their dismay. I point to Dimitri. “You had no right to read my book.”

He shrugs, not seeming the least bit guilty. “Sorry. Do you want me to buy you the next one? I’ve already started it on my phone, but since you like to hold a thick, heavy book in those hands of yours, I can buy it for you.”

I just blink, fully and utterly turned on, but beyond mad. “You are impossible!” I explode, but he isn’t affected by my outburst in the least.

With that smile that has my whole body shaking, he asks, “Are you upset that I know what kinky shit you like, or that I touched your book?”
