“That’s hard currently, considering every time I look at him, my heart does all these silly things.”

Eve frowns. “I’m sorry. I know it would suck. I promise to keep you away from him at all possible costs.”

“Lorelei isn’t coming, is she?”

“No, just us.”

Well, that’s something, I guess. I couldn’t think of anything worse than being stuck with her and Adan on an island where I couldn’t escape.

No thank you.

“Okay, well, count me in. I’ll come get you once your shift is done. I’m going to look at a house now.”

“You’re looking at a house?” she screams happily. “My god, that is so exciting.”

“Yeah.” I nod, nervously. “I’m not sure I’m ready but I have to take a step one day.”

“You deserve it, honey. Don’t let that shit face step-brother of yours tell you any differently. You deserve everything you’re getting and more. You have to know that.”

“Yeah, I know,” I say.

I don’t know, though.

Hell, I don’t believe it for a second.

I was given money by a man far too old for me, who made me believe things that my young mind couldn’t possibly comprehend.

He didn’t force me, but he also should have known better.

Perhaps I should have, too.

Anyway, it is what it is.

House hunting here I come.

16

She’s here.

Lorelei is here.

Looking like a gorgeous supermodel, with her flowy dress and her perfect boobs.

Eve swore she wasn’t going to be here but here she is, by Adan’s side.

It’s not even that I don’t like her, I actually really like her. It’s that my heart is raw and still can’t handle the fact that they’re together and I’m in love with his stupid ass.

Not to mention he never called, or tried to talk to me, after what I admitted.

In fact, he hasn’t looked at me once since we arrived at the jetty to get on the boat Riggs hired.

He now has his bandages off and is finally able to use his hands, but he does have these compression type gloves on them, leaving only the fingers free, but he no longer needs a nurse. So, I would have been sent away anyway. Still, he didn’t tell me the good news—I only know because Daniel called me when someone else took Adan in for the appointment.

So kind of him.

“What’s goin’ on here?”

Remy comes up beside me, hooking an arm around my waist and pulling me close. I kind of like the friendship we’re building together. It’s nice, and I feel like it’ll become something really solid. He’s got that way about him, and he makes me feel good. Which is a nice change.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I say, shrugging.

“You’re starin’ at her like she’s a fuckin’ angel. She’s not, babe. She’s gorgeous but she’s not what you think she is. She’s not you. And he knows it. He’s in denial, but he knows it.”

He does not know it.

“I think you’re wrong. He’s looking at her like she’s radiating some sort of wild light. He hasn’t looked at me once.”

“That’s because if he does, he’ll go to shit. Trust me. I know my brother better than anyone.”

I exhale and look up at him. “Do not let me end up alone with them two on this trip.”

Remy grins down at me. “You have my word.”

Good.

“Let’s go.”

We all get onto the massive boat that Riggs hired. It is huge, but it’s not made for sleeping or anything. Just big enough for us all to sit on deck and get to the island we’re going to. Still, it holds a good deal of people and it’s sure as shit nice. I find a spot right up the front, and Remy sits down beside me. Thank god, because I saw Lorelei walking my way.

Poor girl.

It’s not her fault I’m such a damned baby.

I glance back at everyone taking a seat. Eve rides shotgun to Riggs who is driving the boat. She waves at me, a big smile on her face, and I laugh, waving back. She’s so happy about going on this trip. There are two other girls I don’t know, but I’m guessing they’re from the club because they’re currently hanging off Beckett and Hugh.

I guess they couldn’t go without.

“Who are those girls?” I ask Remy, leaning in close so he can hear me over the sound of the waves crashing against the hull as Riggs takes off.

“Club ass.”

Right.

Club. Ass.

Classy.

“So they’re here for sex?”

Remy nods. “Basically.”

“I hope you guys aren’t going to share them around?”

Remy grins. “Are you goin’ to suck my dick, honey?”

I slap his arm.

He chuckles. “Then yeah, we’re sharin’ them around.”

“But ... what about their dirty vaginas!” I gasp. “There are no showers on the island and you’re all going to blow in them like a bunch of horny whales and then send them to the next man.”

Remy loses it laughing, throwing his head back, his chuckles trailing over everyone. It takes him a minute to calm down and tell me, “We have condoms, you fuckin’ feral.”
