She smiles. Yeah, she likes me. “See you soon, dear.”

With that, I leave.

Sweet old thing.

27

I moan as Adan’s tongue does wicked things between my legs.

He’s always doing this to me.

Distracting me.

Making me forget everything I’m supposed to be doing.

I came home to study. He came home for lunch.

Lunch being me.

I lay back, loving the feeling of his tongue doing incredible things to me. God damn, does he know how to use it. He makes me crazy in the best possible way, and he damn well knows it.

I can’t take a second more.

I cry out as my body shudders.

Only when I come down from my incredible high does he let up. He stands and presses his lips to mine, kissing me long and deep.

“Ugh, you have to stop distracting me,” I murmur, kissing him once more.

“You’re lucky you only got the tongue. If I didn’t know you gotta work, I would have my cock so far in you right now; you’d be bellowing my name.”

God damn.

It’s not a bad idea.

“Well, I mean, we do have a few minutes,” I whisper, biting his lower lip.

“We don’t. Doris already distracted you. You gotta work.”

“Ah, Doris. She sure knows how to make a girl laugh.”

He grunts. “She’s fuckin’ crazy, that old biddy.”

I laugh. “She’s fun, though.”

He kisses me once more and then steps back. “Gotta get back to the club anyway, Poppy is causin’ chaos. We’re movin’ her today.”

“Oh? When?”

“In about an hour.”

I glance at my study. I want to go and see this warehouse of theirs. “You know, I’ll come with you. I might go out and see dad, too.”

“You’ve got to study, babe,” he murmurs, hooking me around the waist and pulling me close.

“I know, but I want to see the warehouse. I’ll do it later, I swear.”

“Come on then.”

We both grab something quick for lunch, and then I follow him out to his bike. I climb on, loving that it’s me who gets to ride behind him. His hands still give him hell when he tries to ride too long, but other than that, they’re healing great. He spends at least twenty-three hours a day in the compression gloves, but they help everything settle back into place. Eventually, he’ll be out of them. He has a few surgeries up his belt in the future to help make his skin firmer and more normal, but that doesn’t matter.

He has his own personal nurse.

And this time, he likes me.

No, no, wait.

He loves me.

“THIS IS SOMETHING ELSE,” I say, glancing around the vast warehouse.

It’s run down, but my god, it’s enormous. It’s bigger than I would have imagined.

It’s clear it hasn’t been used in quite some time and is mainly used for storage, by the looks of it. There are large containers everywhere, and it smells musty and dirty. Still, it has a large living area at the back that is mostly clean due to being closed up. There is a small kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom. An old washer sits in the open area, but otherwise, there isn’t much else.

No television or couch.

No table or chairs.

She has a bed and a place to cook, which is something, I guess.

I’m not certain I could live here, but Poppy seems like she has been in rougher places and would be able to handle something like this with ease.

“Well,” Poppy says, glancing around. “This should be fun.”

“It’s that, or we throw you back out onto the streets and you can deal with your fuckin’ mess,” Beckett tells her, his scowl intense.

God.

He’s a bit of a dick, isn’t he?

“I never said I couldn’t cope,” Poppy snaps. “Shut your mouth for once, or have you forgotten how?”

“Enough,” Riggs orders before Beckett can respond. “We’ll help you clean it up, and then we’ll set up everything you need. I’ll set up security later, so we can make sure we have eyes on you at all times.”

“So I don’t steal everything I make, you mean?” Poppy throws over her shoulder as she walks towards the living area of the large warehouse.

“Not the only reason,” Riggs calls after her. “So we can see who is comin’ and goin’ is far more likely.”

“I can fend for myself,” Poppy yells. “I don’t need protection. Leave a gun with me, and I’m good.”

God.

She is badass.

I follow her into the living area while the guys start tidying up the warehouse part and bringing in everything she needs to make her money. There is a shit load to it, and I watch them bring in machines I couldn’t even begin to understand. She told them exactly what she needed, and they got it. I don’t know where they got it or from whom, but either way, it’s incredible the shit she’s doing here.

Illegal, but incredible.

“I can bring some extra things over from my house,” I say, walking into the bedroom. At least it has a semi-comfortable-looking bed.
