Damn. I just found my wife.

Chapter Four

Julep

This has got to be a dream, right? There is no way I am waking up on a cloud in a place that smells like clean linen and vanilla on a bed to myself. That just doesn't happen. Yet when I open my eyes, that is exactly what I find. “Holy crap. I didn’t dream that?” Looking around the room I am hit with guilt the size of New York. Here I am in a house fit for important people and my little sister is still in that shithole. “Shoot. Lili!” Freaking out now I hop out of bed and run downstairs. My mind is on autopilot as I frantically search for a house phone or a computer or something.

Foster parents do give their paychecks cell phones so I don't have one. However, on one of the rare occasions I was able to get my sister out of the house with me for a day, I took her to the library where we both got a library card and I set up an email account for her as a way for us to communicate. I figured she could email me from school. “Oh, hello.” A sweet voice says from behind me. Startled, I gasped before turning around. “I didn’t mean to scare you. My name is Lourdes.” The lady says, standing over the stove. It's right then that my stomach picks this moment to growl and the aroma of bacon and something sweet hits my nose. “Are you alright?” she inquires, looking a little concerned.

It hits me that I haven't said anything to her. “Yes, I am sorry. I just wasn’t expecting anyone else to be here.” yeah that didn’t come out right. “I mean..I just mean I was looking for Harlan.” nodding she grabs a plate, loads it with bacon, eggs and a stack of pancakes.

“I understand. He has very early mornings. Please, sit and eat.” She gestures toward the plate and in habit I decline, but when my stomach once again calls me a dumb ass, I relent and sit.

“Thank you.” I offer, grabbing the fork and putting eggs in my mouth. I moan instantly. My mouth is not used to having homemade food inside of it. Realizing I did that out loud, my face begins to heat up from embarrassment.

“Mr. Hubris informed me you were here. He told me to tell you to stay put and not to leave the house. He has a few deliveries he has to oversee but then he will be home.” Frowning, I think back to what he said about me working in the store and wonder what has changed. But then I figure he had to leave early and probably didn't have time to train today.

Satisfied with that explanation, I am still trying to figure out how to get in touch with Lili. “Uh, is there a computer in the house?” I ask her hoping she doesn’t ask me why I need it.

“I believe he has one in his office which is at the back of the house.” Nodding my head, I continue shoveling food in it, obsessed with the pancakes. “May I ask how old you are?” her voice sounds curious but I also know what she must be thinking.

“I will be eighteen in a few days.'' My answer sounds defensive, even to my ears but for some reason I feel the need to defend my sudden appearance in his life. In his life. My heart begins to sputter when I think about it again. Something about the idea of this being permanent settles within me like it is meant to be, but that's crazy, right? I mean don’t even know him but then again my pussy sure doesn’t care about that part of it. I masturbated so hard in the shower yesterday, images of his broad shoulders and wide thighs in my mind that I passed out as soon as I hit the bed.

Finishing the rest of the food and trying to get from under her scrutiny, I stuff the rest of the food in my mouth, thank her and set off to find his office. I make it to a closed door and I know I should hesitate but right now Lili is all I can think about.

I see the laptop on the desk and it is not until I open the top that a password being necessary hits me. “No. No.” I cry out hitting the keyboard before I realize what I am doing. Almost like a miracle the screen lights up. Thank god for small favors but seriously, who doesn’t have a password on their computer?

For twenty minutes I write to my sister letting her know I am okay and telling her I will be coming for her soon. I ask her how everything is going? I ask her what anyone has said about me being gone and making sure she doesn’t say where I am to anyone.
