She squeezed her legs tightly around me, panting as I pushed back one of her thighs to fuck her deeper.

“Like that,” I said in a low tone. “You like it when I fuck you deep and hard, don’t you, baby?”

“Yes,” she said, her tone breathy. “Oh, God…yes.”

Her pussy tightened around my cock as she started to come, her legs locked around my hips. I reveled in her scream of satisfaction, using all my self-control to hold on until I felt her ride out each wave of her orgasm. With one final thrust, I stiffened and came with a powerful groan.

I kissed her gently and then sat back on the couch, knowing I was too heavy to lie on top of her. We were both breathing hard as we came down from the high when Sheridan started laughing.

“Something is funny?” I asked.

“I just can’t believe I’m naked in broad daylight in a room that’s nothing but windows, and I’m not even self-conscious.”

“You should never be self-conscious with me.”

“It’s hard not to be when you’re a woman whose body has been criticized her entire life.”

I quirked a brow and smiled at her. “Maybe it’s time to stop listening to the world. I think you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”

She smiled. “Thank you.”

I ran my fingers along the smooth skin of her calf, taking in the most spectacular view I’d ever seen. Sheridan’s eyes were bright, her cheeks were flushed, and she looked happy. I had everything in the world I really wanted in this moment.

“I would like to have the picture of me,” I said.

She burst out laughing. “That one? With purple paint all over it? No, let me make you a new one.”

“I want that one.”

“Okay, but what are you going to do with it?”

I grinned. “Hang it in my apartment. It will remind me of this every time I look at it.”

“Of the time we fucked in my studio,” she said softly. “It’ll be a great memory.”

“It will, because it will remind me of the times we fucked in your studio.” I moved closer to her. “First, on this couch. And then, again on this couch, but with you on top. And then when I bent you over the side of this couch.”

She gave me a sexy smile. “And when we smeared paint all over each other’s bodies and then fucked on the floor?”

“Fuck yes. That, too.”

Chapter Thirty-One

Sheridan

Three weeks later

I’d never liked doing interviews because reporters inevitably asked me questions I wasn’t comfortable with and it always made me hate them a little. This was different, though. Hadley was a good friend, and though we’d decided that nothing was off the table, I knew she wouldn’t embarrass me. Interviewing me for her online magazine’s podcast had been her idea, but I’d agreed for a lot of reasons. First, because I no longer had anything to hide. Second, because I was finally—legally—divorced, and it was a glorious thing. And last, I wanted to set the record straight. I was sure more people had seen the video than would hear my interview with Hadley, but at this point, it didn’t matter as much.

I still had bouts of shame and frustration, but with Lars at my side and a good chunk of the Mavericks organization having my back, I didn’t feel alone anymore.

“Are you ready?” Hadley asked me as we sat in her new home studio.

I took a breath. “Yes.”

“You sure? You look queasy.”

I shook my head. “No. I’m good. Really.”

She smiled at me. “Remember, this is recorded and we can edit out anything you don’t want in there. We can also pause anytime you want.”

“Thank you.”

She did her usual intro to the show and a little background on me. “Sheridan, thank you so much for coming on the show.”

“Thank you for having me.”

“Your life has been in the news a lot in the last year and a half or so. How are you feeling these days after your accident?”

“I’m much, much better. I’ve been in hard-core physical therapy and it’s made a big difference. I do a lot of stretching and yoga, which has also helped, and I’ve lost about twenty pounds, which made a difference too.”

“You’re the most well-known plus-size supermodel in the world. Do you still worry about your weight?”

“Always. It may seem counterintuitive because obviously my career is partly based on my size, but the truth is I’m cognizant of every extra pound because I know for every fan I have, there’s someone else out there who has something nasty to say. I’ve been doing this for nearly fifteen years now, but the meanness and bullying never get easier.”

“Do you plan to go back to modeling?”

“I do. In fact, I have something planned in the spring that I can’t talk about yet, but there will be a press release the first of the year.”
