Fuck, I’m sore. He’s an animal.

I may have gotten my gentle turn the first time, but damn, did he make up for it later.

I go to the kitchen and pour myself a glass of water when, in the darkness, my phone lights up with a text on the kitchen counter.

I frown and pick it up.

The name Simon lights up the screen.

Chapter 11

I sit at my desk and stare out of the window, unable to wipe the stupid smile from my face. What a weekend, and holy hell, what a man. It’s been a long time since I came to work on a Monday this happy. To be honest, it’s been a long time since I’ve been this happy, and it’s all because of one man.

The one man I swore to hate for all of eternity.

Brock Marx, sex god extraordinaire, and the real life devil himself.

I pick up my pen and stare at the file in front of me as I try to focus on my task. I get a vision of Brock crawling up between my legs with his mischievous smile, and I feel myself blush. I press my lips together to hide my smile, taking a quick look around at my co-workers as they work beside me, minding their own business. God, if only they knew the things I gotten up to this weekend.

“What is with you today?” Rourke asks with suspicion. “Why do you keep smiling at nothing?”

I shrug, but my face contorts as I try to control my smile. “No reason.”

He gives me a knowing wink. “You going to lunch?”

“Is that okay?”

“Sure.” He turns back to his computer, and I quickly pack up my desk and leave the building. I sit in the park on a bench seat, and then I take out my packed sandwich.

I stare at the phone in my hand and wince, knowing I have to call Simon.

I don’t even want to speak to him right now. I just want to stay in this naughty bubble of badness. I want to stay where I don’t have to think about anything other than how many orgasms I’m going to have. I exhale heavily.

Just get it over with; dial his number.

He answers first ring. “Hey, Tull.”

Hearing his voice hits me like a tonne of bricks and the ugly taste of guilt fills my mouth. “Hey, Si.” I smile sadly. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah.” I can tell he’s smiling. “Missing you, though.”

My throat closes up at hearing him say that, and I smile through tears. I look out over the park in front of me. God, this is a fucking mess.

“You will never guess what?” he says suddenly.

“What?” I smile.

“I got offered to join the Edward Academy.”

My eyes widen. “You did?” My mouth falls open. This is a big deal. “Oh my God, Si, that’s amazing.”

“I can’t believe it.” He laughs, and I can tell he’s really excited.

“I can. You’re the smartest there.”

He exhales heavily. “It’s all working out, Tull. I’ll do this transfer to London for a month.”

I frown. “The academy is in London?”

“Yeah. It was either there or the States.”

“Oh, okay.” I frown as I listen, and a strange feeling comes over me. I’m not sad he’s going overseas, just really happy that he is getting this opportunity.

Maybe we are we just friends now? Have my feelings for him changed?

“I’ll do this transfer, and then when I get back, I’ll only have another three weeks in Melbourne before I’ll come home to Sydney for good.”

My face falls. “Oh, that’s great,” I whisper as my mind begins to race.

“So, is your apartment going to be big enough for all of my things or should I sell them before I come home? Did you say it had a single or double garage?”

I stare at the ground underneath my feet as I try to focus on what he’s saying.

He continues, despite my silence. “Maybe you can send me a list of everything you have now so that we don’t double up on any appliances. If I run some ads to sell things on the classifieds, can you monitor them while I’m away?”

Fuck. This is really happening.

“Erm.” I frown. “Sure.” I collect air in my cheeks as I stare out over the park.

Shit, shit, shit.

“Anyway, I’m at work, babe, so I can’t really speak.”

“When do you leave?” I ask.

“Three days.”

I frown. “How long have you known you were going?”

“I found out a few days ago, but I wasn’t sure if I was going to take it.”

“Why not?”

“I was going to come home and surprise you.”

My eyes widen imagining him finding Brock at my apartment

Fuck.

“See you later, Tull.”

“Si?” I hesitate for a moment.

“Yeah?”

I rub the toe of my shoe into the ground beneath my feet. “Are you still seeing that girl?”

“Ah, nah, she’s nothing, Tull.”

I bite my bottom lip. “That’s not what I asked.”
