Anyway, whatever they were called, he found them enchanting—almost as endearing as Molly’s personality which was shy and sweet. Nothing like Karen Geners who was loud and pushy and determined to make him mate with her!

Torus shivered. He knew many males who liked it when a female came on strong but he wasn’t one of those. He preferred to make the first move himself—not that he ever would with any of these Earth women. He didn’t want to be with someone he might crush if he wasn’t careful. He also didn’t want to be with a female who would be injured if she tried to take his shaft inside herself.

Some of his fellow Jorgens had taken Earth wives and they swore that using Bonding Fruit made anything possible but Torus had his doubts. Even for his kind, his shaft was extremely large. He couldn’t see trying to fit it into a female who was half his size and whose head barely came up to his elbow.

I should have stayed aboard the Jorgen ship, he thought as he looked out the reinforced window in his office which showed a view of the Earth in the distance. The Kindred Mother Ship orbited the Earth’s moon and regular shuttles went back and forth between the Mother Ship and Earth, carrying Kindred and their brides.

Torus had been to Earth exactly once—which was enough for him. He had been to a continent called North America and had visited a state called Florida. The climate was extremely hot and humid and the traffic was horrendous. Somehow the humans still hadn’t mastered flying cars, so all of their Earth vehicles clogged every road, filling the air with dirty, stinking fumes from the fossil fuels that most of them still used. It was a nightmare!

Also, everywhere he went, everyone had stared at him constantly as though he was a freak or some form of free entertainment, which Torus really disliked. The humans aboard the Mother Ship were nice enough but the ones on Earth had no manners. He had decided never to go back. What was the point when he knew he was never going to find a mate on the backwards little planet?

Thinking of finding a mate made Molly Byrne pop into his head again for some reason. Torus tried to push the thought away. He wasn’t really interested in the enchanting little human, it was just that he kept having dreams about her.

At first he’d thought he might be Dream-Sharing with her, which was a common phenomenon with other branches of the Kindred family tree. It usually happened when the Goddess had chosen to put two people together—they would start having dreams of each other’s daily lives and would slowly be drawn together.

But the dreams Torus had of Molly weren’t those kinds of dreams. He didn’t see her daily life—at least, he certainly hoped it wasn’t her daily life. Because all the dreams he had of her were more like nightmares.

In these nightly dreams, he saw the curvy little redhead with a human man. The human was tall for his kind—almost as tall as a regular sized Kindred, Torus estimated. Anyway, he was big enough to make Molly look small in comparison—though part of the reason she looked small was that she was always shrinking away from him.

The human—who had brown hair and eyes and wore a kind of permanent sneer on his face—was always shouting at her. He called Molly names and belittled her. Sometimes he menaced her or threw things at her head.

In one awful dream, Torus had seen her lock herself in the fresher—what humans called a “bathroom” or a “toilet”—while the human male was outside raging at her and beating on the door for hours.

Molly had crouched beside the bathtub with her arms around her knees. Her pretty face had been distorted by tears as she sobbed and begged for the human man to leave her alone. But he wouldn’t—he just kept shouting and threatening—making her feel small and scared and helpless.

The worst dreams, though, were the ones where she was intimate with the human male. Thank goodness they were few and far between, because Torus didn’t think he could stand to have them often.

In these dreams, the human male was almost always on top, grinding Molly into the mattress beneath her. Or sometimes he would make her give him oral pleasure—then he would grab the back of her head and force her down onto his shaft, gagging and choking her until the tears streamed from her eyes.

Molly never asked for any of these encounters—she hated sex with the rough human male. But she was too frightened to refuse him when he demanded the use of her body—which was all he was doing, just using her like a sex toy, Torus thought angrily. She would give in to him because she was terrified if she didn’t, he would hurt her even more. Afterwards, when he rolled off her and started snoring, she would lay in the darkness crying and feeling helpless and used and dirty and trapped…
