“I guess I won’t be doing her morning yoga routine either,” El grumbled, but rubbed his hands up Trig’s chest. “This is fucked though. All these ingredients are ruined, and we have nothing to bring. Lucky will tell me it’s fine in that tone of his that says it’s absolutely not fine, and I’ll end up on toilet-cleaning duty for a month.”

Trig couldn’t hold back laughter and leaned in, giving his lover a sweet, closed-mouthed kiss. “Don’t stress. We’ll just buy something on the way.” El was already sucking in air to remind him that Lucky made it a rule that food was to be homemade, but Trig shut him up with yet another smooch. “There’s this nice deli close by. We will take our bowl and have them fill it with one of their salads. Problem solved.”

El frowned, thinking it through as if he’d been given codes to nukes, not pondering salad. “Okay. And I’ll ask them how they made it, in case Lucky wanted to quiz me about it. It’s gonna be expensive, but worth it in the long run, right?”

Trig was tired, but the concern painted over El’s face filled his heart with pure sweetness. Despite El’s initial worries and stubborn refusal to give the Coffin Nails MC a chance, he’d made a one-eighty and was all in, trying to befriend everyone involved with the club. It was adorable and put to rest many of Trig’s own doubts.

Having so many acquaintances was still new to El, but he was on the right path to becoming an irreplaceable member of their community. The patches on the back of his property vest certainly helped, and Trig’s ego filled with pride every time he saw them.

“It will be worth the money. You’re doing great.”

El sighed with relief and leaned in for a kiss. “Thank you for taking me back in. This life is so different from my lonely existence, and I had no idea how much I needed this change.”

Trig rested his forehead against El’s and pulled both his hands to his naked chest, just resting like that for a while. The sense of absolute peace grounded him by this man who’d once again become the center of his universe. In a world filled with danger and broken promises, they’d found one another twice.

Trig raised his forearm to El’s and aligned them so that the tattoos on their arms formed the word they’d originally meant to carry together through life.

Forever.

“Thank you for staying.”
