He closed his eyes and opened them again, to find them both gone.

Epilogue

Three Months Later

“Do you think this is right?” Robin asked.

Dylan glanced over at his wife. They’d just gotten back from her appointment with the doctor, and not only were they pregnant with one child, the doctor had given them the news they were expecting twins.

It had certainly been a lot to take in.

He reached out and placed his palm against his wife’s stomach. It had started to swell in the past few months, and he couldn’t resist touching her stomach, knowing she held their twins inside her.

“Why don’t you?”

“I don’t know, this feels a little stalkery, you know, watching them move in.”

The realtor had told them both not to worry. According to their books, the two houses were a prime spot and were often sold within days of each other.

“It feels right,” Dylan said.

Into Robin’s house, a heavily inked man who had just opened a tattoo parlor in town, was moving in, and a very lovely woman in a white sundress had purchased Dylan’s home.

Neither he nor Robin knew anything about their background. Only what the realtor told them—both had opened shops.

“Do you know what store she opened?”

“You know, the realtor didn’t say, just that she had purchased a lot in town, and had also wanted a house close by.”

“They’re not even looking at each other.”

There was a sudden knock on his window and as he wound it down, he saw that it was Hector.

“You know, you’re going to become too addicted to this,” Hector said.

“We’re just keeping up Elizabeth’s traditions.”

“Yeah, well, Elizabeth had started to think that our constant watching had nearly destroyed a happy couple,” Jaxson said. “We’re glad you two are together, but this is our last time coming here.”

Hector held his hand out and shook his and then Robin’s hand. “We wish you an amazing life together.”

Jaxson did the same, and Dylan watched as the two climbed into their respective cars and then drove off.

Dylan looked at the two houses as the two new people were walking in, and they were like chalk and cheese.

“I think it’s time for us to move on,” Robin said.

“Yeah, I think it is.”

With that, he turned over the ignition, and without another look, headed back home, to look forward to his family just beginning, and just live.
