There was only one way in and out of the field, and Elizabeth hadn’t passed her. She rubbed at her temple and knew there must be a secret way out, and then quickly took off, heading back toward her home.

As she did, Dylan came out of his house, and he was alone. He looked at her, and the smile on his face when he caught sight of her made her stop. What could that mean?

“I was just coming to find you,” he said.

“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?” she asked.

He laughed. “It’s a good thing. A very, very, very good thing.” He took hold of her hand and pulled her into his arms.

“What about your wife?”

“Ex-wife, and I dealt with her. She won’t be coming around anymore.”

“What did she want?” she asked.

“To get back together. She told me she had learned the error of her ways and all she wanted to do now was make it up to me.”

“And you didn’t want her?”

“No.”

“Why not?” she asked.

Dylan burst out laughing. “Because I’ve got you, Robin. I love you, and if anything, I now know how and who I want to spend the rest of my life with. It’s you. All you.” He pulled her in close and as he kissed her, she felt that heat fill her whole body.

“I love you too.”

“And I honestly don’t care if it’s the houses or not, they brought us together, and that doesn’t make them cursed. They’re magical.”

Robin smiled.

“Now, how about you think about spending the rest of my life with me?”

“Yeah, I think I can handle that.”

Dylan stood by his woman’s side, as they said their goodbyes to the woman they had only come to know as Elizabeth.

They had learned of the older woman’s passing a couple of days ago. Hector came to see them and said that her funeral would be in a few days’ times. Robin had already told him what happened out on the field.

There was no way Elizabeth could have been out in the field that day, as she had already been discovered at the clubhouse, having passed peacefully away in her sleep. The church was full to the brim with bikers, as well as many people from the town. He spotted the two men with their respective wives and children all sitting together, paying their respects to a woman who had changed their lives.

He held onto Robin’s hand. They had already put their houses on the market. Robin had finally gotten around to finishing off his kitchen, and it was starting to take shape. She found another firm, and so far, there hadn’t been any problems. They had also set a date for their wedding, and this time, he intended to help with the planning. This marriage, he wanted.

Also, they had taken a pregnancy test together and he’d seen the stick change. He and Robin were going to be parents. He couldn’t believe how happy he was.

The moment he moved into that house, he’d been a grumpy bastard. He’d been taken for a fool, and he’d felt it as well. Only now, he didn’t feel like a fool. No, he had finally met his soulmate, and there was no way he was going to let her go.

At the end of the burial, he took Robin’s hand and they walked away, heading back toward his car.

“She must have found a way out of the park that day, right?”

“Possibly.”

“I mean, it’s not possible for me to have been … visited by her, is it?”

They got to the car, and he turned Robin toward him. “What do you think?”

She opened her mouth and closed it without saying a word.

“The truth.”

“The truth … ugh, in all honesty, I feel like I was visited by Elizabeth’s ghost, and she wanted to make sure I didn’t make a silly mistake.”

This made Dylan frown. “Why would you make a silly mistake?” he asked.

“Because, I was … I’d seen your wife and I knew there was no way I’d be able to compete with that. I mean, did you see her?”

Dylan smiled and then cupped her face. “It doesn’t matter. My heart belongs to you, and my wife is a horrible person. She was after money and hoped to try and find an easy way to get to it. That is all. She was trying to seduce me, but I’d already been tempted, and all I wanted was to get her out of my house so I could go to the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with.” He placed a hand on her stomach. “For us both to raise a family together.”

She wrapped her arms around his neck. “I love you,” she said.

“And I love you.”

As he held her tightly, he closed his eyes for just a second and then opened them. Across the field, he was pretty sure he saw Elizabeth, only she seemed younger, and beside her was a man, holding her hand.
