I can’t say I’m surprised. The company is less than two years old, and it’s regional. I stumbled on one of their online ads. The comment section persuaded me to buy a box. I haven’t used another brand since. In fact, my interest in the company reaches beyond the product.

She lets out a sigh. “I might have to order a box.”

I’ve never felt jealousy before, but a spark of something is lit within me at the thought of Abby rolling a condom on another guy’s dick before he fucks her.

I motion for her to join me on the bed. “Come here.”

She walks over and sets her ass down. “I should head home soon.”

“You should stay.” I trace my fingers over the inside of her thigh. “One last fuck before you go.”

“My pussy needs to take a rain check.”

I let out a bark of laughter. “Your pussy doesn’t need that.”

“I have to prepare a few things for work tomorrow.” She raises a shoulder. “Mr. Thorsen expects certain things from me.”

“Mr. Thorsen can fuck right off.”

Her hand leaps to her mouth. “You’re his friend, so you can say that. He pays me, so I can’t.”

“You want to, though, right?”

She shakes her head. “He’s a good boss, Declan.”

I push her hair back over her shoulder to give me a spot to plant a soft kiss on her skin. “We’re doing this again soon, Abigail.”

“Are we?” She places the empty condom package on my nightstand. “This is now a two-night stand.”

I nod. “Damn right it is, and we’ll make it a three-night stand tomorrow.”

“I can’t tomorrow.” She crosses her bare legs. “I have plans.”

That hits me harder than I expect, but we barely know each other, and although the fucks have been fun, I don’t know what the future holds for us other than another round or two when our schedules sync.

“What night are you free?” I question.

She rubs the palm of her left hand with her right thumb. “Let’s play it by ear and see where the week takes us.”

I want to firm up something now but won’t push, so I nod in agreement.

“You’re fun.” She smiles. “Very fun.”

“Is that your way of not stealing my pride?”

She leans forward to kiss me softly on the lips. “I think your pride will be fine whether or not I tell you how great you are in bed.”

“You’re incredible, Abigail.”

Her eyes search my face. I don’t know if she wants confirmation that I’m speaking the truth, but I am. This will be a night I’ll never forget.

“I promise I won’t steal your shoes this time.” She moves to stand. “I’ll get dressed and head out.”

I slide off the bed too. “Rygar will drive you home.”

“No,” she insists as she watches me pull on a pair of boxer briefs. Her gaze skims the waistband, which is emblazoned with my surname. “I’ll grab an Uber.”

I want to fight her on it, but I won’t. “Thanks for returning the shoes.”

Her smile lights up my dim bedroom. “You didn’t even realize they were missing, did you?”

Holding in a chuckle, I shrug a shoulder. “I plead the Fifth.”

“I think I know why you traded in law for underwear.”

“Why?”

She pats my bare chest. “Dollar bills.”

I laugh. “Dollar bills?”

“Greed,” she whispers. “Men like you are driven by greed.”

“Is that a bad thing?”

She studies my face, honing in on my eyes. “Only if it’s the sole driving force of a man.”

“Greed played a part, but there’s more to it,” I confess. “Sean asked me to partner in Wells with him.”

“Really?” She tilts her head as she studies my face. “You gave up a law career for your brother?”

“I’d do anything for my family,” I admit. “That approach hasn’t always paid off for me, but this time it did.”

“Family is first,” she whispers. “I feel that way too.”

That doesn’t surprise me at all. Something tells me that Abby and I have more in common than I thought.

She glances around my bedroom. “I need to find my clothes.”

“I’ll help with that search,” I offer with a smile. “Keep your hands where I can see them. No stealing this time. I wouldn’t want to punish you again.”

She scoops up the light blue tie I was wearing earlier and drapes it around her neck. “I might have to take this with me.”

I stop to stare at her because this may very well be the most beautiful image I’ve ever seen.

Besides the tie, she’s completely nude with messy hair and swollen lips.

“You’re striking,” I whisper. “You’re so goddamn beautiful.”

“Thank you,” she accepts the compliment with grace and a small smile. “Thank you, Declan.”

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Abby

“I set you up with someone,” Nyssa says as we sit at one of the small tables in the bistro we agreed to meet at for dinner.

“No.” I raise a hand in protest. “Tell me you’re joking.”
