“How do we know that your girl here isn’t actually a bad person?” Trouper asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
I looked at him curiously. “How do we know that you’re not a piece of shit?”
“Listen,” Easton interjected. “She’s not a bad person. In fact, she writes anonymous letters to people that are bad people. She works her ass off and doesn’t have time to do anything besides drive most of the time. I’ve literally been practically stalking her for the entirety of the last three years. Trust me when I say, if there’s anyone that I know everything about, it’s Banger.”
“Bang Bang,” the man at the side of the truck said with his arms still crossed over his chest. “I like that.”
“Glad that you do, Mr. Bruno,” I grumbled.
“Bruno,” Bruno shot back. “Call me Bruno.”
I wouldn’t call him any such thing.
The man was intimidating as fuck, and until I knew him better, I would not be addressing him by his Christian name.
And I wouldn’t ever, never in a million years, talk about the song that was now singing its way through my head.
“Let’s head to Lynn’s house. We’re only an hour away. You can call your club, and they can meet us there, and then we can figure out what in the fuck is going on,” Trouper supplied.
“I have a load to deliver,” I disagreed. “It’s due in an hour and a half. I don’t know which way this ‘Lynn’s’ house is, but I can’t head there right now. I have a living to make.”
Trouper said nothing.
Neither did Mr. Bruno.
But Easton wrapped his arm around my chest.
“I already contacted the agency. They’re not expecting you until today around six. We have enough time to head toward Lynn’s house, which happens to be sort of on the way to where you’re going,” Easton said. “When we’re done there, we can head back to drop it off.”
I sighed. “Okay.”

I thought that Easton and his MC were rowdy.
I hadn’t seen rowdy.
The Souls Chapel Revenants MC were something else entirely.
Upon entering the building that housed Easton’s brother, Trouper, and the rest of Trouper’s MC, Easton had told me a little about the Revenants.
Mainly that they were all felons. They were all hardened to life, and they were a different breed.
I hadn’t really known what he meant by ‘a different breed’ until we walked in and I saw all the intense looks in the men’s eyes.
There was Bruno, who according to Easton, was the one and only one that wasn’t a true ‘felon.’ But I knew that the term only meant that Bruno hadn’t been caught doing anything bad. But he’d done plenty of bad things before that would’ve given him that title had he been.
There was Laric, who had a dog beside him that looked just as bad and scary as his master.
There was Trick, who looked like he could break me in half over his leg, and look hot as hell doing it.
Hunt, the computer guru who was very good at what he did, and went to jail for doing it.
Finally, there was Lynnwood, who wasn’t wearing his cut, but I could tell was just as much a part of the group as the rest of them were. He was the leader, and though he was older, that didn’t make him any less deadly.
“Uh.” I waved, completely uncomfortable with all their eyes on me. “It’s nice to meet you.”
It was the one with the glasses that was grinning at me. Hunt.
“You do realize, right, that the man that you’re leaning against, and practically hiding behind, is just as scary as we are?” Hunt asked.
Was Easton?
I didn’t see him as scary.
I just saw him as Easton.
The man that made my heart beat faster.
CHAPTER 18
Being an adult is the dumbest thing I’ve ever done.
-Easton to Trouper
EASTON
“You do realize, right, that the man that you’re leaning against, and practically hiding behind, is just as scary as we are?” Hunt asked.
I felt her more than saw her look up at me, but my eyes were too busy boring holes into Hunt’s soul.
What the fuck? my eyes seemed to say.
Why would he say that?
Before I could punch him in the throat like I wanted to, things got loud as the rest of my club arrived.
In the beginning, joining the Battle Crows MC, it’d been about the perfect place to watch over Banger. To make sure that she was always going to be okay, and to make sure that I could reside close enough to O’Ryan to make sure that I could always continue to make his life a living hell.
But now, being a part of the Battle Crows MC, I couldn’t think of a better place that I could ever be. Rook, Haggard, Bram, Shine, Price, and Jeremiah may not actually be blood family, but they’d taken me in like I was one of their own. They’d helped me when I hadn’t realized that I’d needed help.
