“Can I wear my bumblebee cap?” she asked in a shaky voice.

“Of course you can.”

“Okay.” Kiki conceded control to him.

“It’s really not that bad,” CC assured her as Hunter walked in with a small square of white paper and a few individually wrapped cylinders, which he set on the table.

“I had some samples in my car. You can try them out before you fill the prescription if you’d like,” Hunter suggested.

“Thank you. I may have more questions in the future. Do you mind if I send you a text or an email? No rush in getting back to me,” Terry assured him.

“No problem. I’m glad to help.”

“How are your grilling skills? Shall we get some hamburgers on the grill to feed these ravenous Little girls?” Terry asked as the women sat up straight at the mention of food.

“I wield a mean spatula,” Hunter joked.

“Perfect!”

Terry turned to CC and Kiki to ask, “Cheeseburgers or hamburgers, Littles?”

“Cheeseburgers,” they answered together and giggled after speaking over each other.

Within a few minutes, Hunter was grilling the burgers outside while Terry raided the refrigerator to unload potato salad, veggie sticks, dip, and all the condiments anyone could want on a burger. He gave CC the important job of taking the cheese out to her Daddy to put on the patties while Kiki arranged the plates and utensils.

Kiki felt a bit silly as Terry cut her burger in half when they settled into their spots to eat. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Hunter cutting CC’s into quarters.

“Could you cut mine again, Daddy?” she requested, eager to be equal to her friend.

“Of course, Bumblebee. That will be much easier to eat.” Terry dropped a kiss on her head before placing the plate in front of Kiki.

Their conversation was lively at the table, and Kiki had more fun than she’d had for a long time. Having Terry in her life made everything seem to come alive. She wasn’t simply returning back to her lonely apartment at the end of a long day.

Kiki scooted her chair a bit closer to her Daddy and grinned at him when he squeezed her knee. She crossed her fingers under the cover of the tablecloth. Finding someone who cared this much about her seemed so impossible. He’d even gotten medical advice to make sure he took care of her properly.

Looking up at the refrigerator where that small prescription was pinned under a smiley face magnet, Kiki noticed it was next to the rules and consequences he had attached there yesterday when they’d finished compiling them. She’d figured the item labeled bottom treatment was another name for spanking—not like real medicine. That prescription proved her wrong.

The girls finished the puzzle quickly after dinner as the men cleaned up the kitchen. Having some free time without having to do chores, clean anything, or do boring adult things like pay bills or make a grocery list seemed like heaven. Kiki looked at CC, wondering if this was how it always was for her. When her new friend nodded, Kiki knew she’d read her mind.

Chapter Thirteen

As soon as Hunter and CC left the house, Daddy closed the door and turned to face Kiki. His brow was furrowed with concern. “You’ve been awfully quiet for the last hour or so, Bumblebee.”

Kiki rubbed her stomach. “I just ate too much, Daddy. Your burgers were so yummy, but I haven’t eaten that much red meat in a long time. My tummy is full.”

He stepped toward her and set a hand on her forehead. “Are you sure that’s it? You’re a bit flushed.”

She nodded. “I’m sure, Daddy. Maybe I could just lie on the couch for a while and watch TV. I bet I’ll feel better soon.”

“Relaxing for a while is an excellent plan, Bumblebee, but I think this is the perfect time to try out Hunter’s tummy medicine.”

Kiki’s breath hitched and she took a step back, nearly stumbling over her feet. “I don’t need any medicine, Daddy.” She forced herself to stand up straight, trying not to wince. “See? I’m fine. I feel fine.”

Terry chuckled as he took her hand and headed for the kitchen. She was surprised by their destination, and she didn’t like the tone of his chuckle. It wasn’t a funny kind of laugh.

When they reached the fridge, he grabbed a pen and started writing on her list of rules.

Her breath hitched when she leaned in to read what he’d written.

No lying

Darn. She couldn’t really argue with him on that rule. She considered pointing out that it shouldn’t count since they hadn’t established it beforehand, but lying would be a difficult rule to dismiss as unnecessary.

Kiki winced as Daddy picked up the sample pills Hunter had left on the counter and took her hand again. “Come on, Bumblebee. Let’s give these suppositories a try.”
