Watching him put a bit of toothpaste on her brush, Kiki waited patiently. When he handed it to her, she brushed her teeth quickly and froze as she moved to rinse the suds off her toothbrush.
“Not so fast, Bumblebee. You didn’t do a very good job. Brush again while Daddy sings. You can stop when I’m finished with the alphabet.”
Terry launched into a slow version of the song she’d learned as a child to memorize the order of the letters. When he finished with the letter Z, Kiki leaned over to rinse her mouth of the foam. Running her tongue over her teeth, she was amazed how much cleaner they felt.
“Better, huh?”
“Maybe,” she hedged.
His laugh filled the small space. “Daddy’s always right. I’ll look forward to the day when you admit it.”
She shook her head mischievously before covering a massive yawn.
“We’ll see. Bedtime, Bumblebee.”
Terry ushered her out the door and back into her bedroom. There, Kiki discovered that he had turned down her covers and found her nightshirt under her pillow. Before she could panic about him taking the rest of her clothes off, he had her turned toward him and pulled her shirt over her head. Within seconds, he had her undressed and redressed in the oversized pink T-shirt.
“Get in bed, sweetheart,” he urged with a hand on her bottom.
Quickly, she scampered into bed and allowed him to tuck the covers around her neck. “I need Spike.”
“He’s right here. This alligator is too savvy to think you’re settled in your favorite sleeping position. Want to turn onto your tummy?” he asked.
“How did you know?” she gasped.
“Daddies know things. Spike’s waiting for you to get comfortable,” he reminded her.
“Oh!” Quickly, she flopped over and slid one arm under the pillow to snuggle into place. Terry placed Spike near her other hand, and she pulled him close to press a kiss on his scales.
“And a kiss from Daddy,” Terry announced, leaning over her to kiss to her forehead.
“Can I have a real kiss, Daddy?” Kiki pleaded, propping herself up on her elbows.
“Will that help you have sweet dreams?”
“Yes.” She nodded her head vigorously until his hand cupped her jaw and held her steady. Kiki inhaled as he lowered his lips slowly to her mouth. The kiss he delivered made her nipples harden with desire as she wrapped an arm around his shoulder to cling to him.
When he moved away from her, Kiki blinked her eyes open and rushed to say, “You could stay if you want.”
“As desirable as you are, Little girl, I’m going to force us to think past tonight and prepare for the future. I won’t take you to bed until we set up our rules. And we’re not going to do that at bedtime. Can you make time for me after work tomorrow?”
“Yes.”
“I’ll text you my address. I’ll be there from the midafternoon on. Drive carefully, Bumblebee.”
“Okay, Daddy,” she answered, unable to believe he wouldn’t stay.
Kiki watched him walk to the doorway and stop to look back at her. She wanted to ask him to stay again but knew his mind was made up. Part of her liked his insistence on setting up their parameters. The larger part of her that was focused on the immediate need brewing between her thighs was not happy.
“You’re worth the wait,” he said softly to console her. “I’ll lock the doors so you’re safe. Pleasant dreams, Bumblebee.”
“Night, Daddy,” she whispered after the house had fallen quiet. Kiki remembered she hadn’t plugged in her phone, but she wasn’t going to get up. She was too comfortable. Calling out loud, she requested a wake-up song at seven-thirty to be able to get to work at nine.
Chapter Seven
Terry looked around the house when he got home and smiled. When his sister had lived here, there had been more life inside the house but also a lot more mess. Tori had seemed to shed clothing and possessions as she passed. The house was immaculate and ready for Kiki to come visit.
He stopped and scanned the open space again, realizing how much he missed seeing the clutter of a Little girl making the house look more lived in. Terri hadn’t realized how lonely his home had become. His Bumblebee would definitely add zest to the quiet interior.
Flipping off the lights, he ascended the stairs to his bedroom. After passing the now guestroom that Tori had lived in before finding her Daddy, Terry entered the master bedroom and paused at the door that led to the small adjoining room. He’d started putting together a nursery here but as time passed, he’d lost hope that his special woman would appear, and his efforts had evaporated.
Now unlocking the door, Terry stepped inside to look around. It needed a good cleaning. As much as he hated housework, Terry turned on his heels and grabbed the vacuum cleaner and several dust rags from the laundry area. Getting the room prepared for Kiki wasn’t a chore.
