Super rich.

Hot as hell.

Wanted by women everywhere.

And he’s kissing me.

The surety of his mouth against mine anchors me. The kitchen, the day, everything else fades as the kiss deepens, his hand sliding to the back of my neck, pulling me closer.

Lex’s lips are gentle at first, almost testing, as if he’s waiting for me to pull away.

But I don’t.

Instead, I lean into him, responding with a matched but quiet intensity. His breath mixes with mine as his hand tightens slightly on the back of my neck. He pulls me closer as the kiss grows bolder, more passionate. My hands press into his chest, feeling the solid warmth beneath his shirt as I hold on to him.

The world narrows down to only this—the heat between us, the taste of him, the way his lips move against mine, sparks of desire zapping through my entire body. He emits a soft sound, almost a sigh, from deep in his throat, and my heart races even faster.

Time slows as his tongue brushes against mine, teasing, exploring. It’s heady and intoxicating, and I lose myself in it, in him. Every sensation heightens—the press of his body against me, the warmth of his skin, the faint scent of his cologne.

Lex breaks the kiss, because I never would. He rests his forehead against mine, breathing heavily and asks, “Do I have to apologize for that?”

My heart pounds in my chest, and I’m suddenly not sure where to go from here. “No apologies needed,” I whisper.

There’s a moment of silence, long enough that doubts creep in. But then Lex lifts his head and grins down at me, that mischievous glint back in his eyes. “Well, that was unexpected,” he says softly, his thumb brushing my cheek.

“It wasn’t on my bingo card,” I admit sheepishly and because it seems the right thing to do, I pull away from him.

I’m shocked when he growls, his eyes turning dark. His hand tightens on my neck, and he pulls me closer. “I’m going to kiss you again.”

“Why?” I ask breathlessly.

His voice is low and husky. “After that first kiss, you need to ask?”

I feel compelled to downplay it. “It was just a kiss.”

“A bloody good one. Bet I can make it better.”

The determination in his tone has me on the verge of incinerating, but in my mind, I can’t believe this is happening. “What is this? I mean… why are you doing this?”

Lex blinks in surprise. “Because you’re sexy as fuck—”

“I’m not—”

“You are, and you’re totally turning me on right now by denying it. So let’s see where it goes?”

I consider that offer and it sounds good. “You know if we keep on it will lead to sex.”

“Which would make me very happy indeed. I guarantee, I can, in turn, make you happy.”

His wicked smile does me in and my resolve melts. “But it’s just sex.”

“Why would it be anything else?” he asks, head tilted curiously.

Indeed, why would it be? Because in romance novels, you fall in love, but in real life, you lower your expectations. I chew on my bottom lip a moment before making a bold proclamation. “This can’t be anything more than a fling.”

Lex blinks in surprise before his lips curve devilishly. “Are you saying you want to have a fling with me?”

I stammer, flooded with embarrassment. “No, not at all. I just… what I mean is that if we were to… what I’m trying to say is—”

Lex’s mouth slams onto mine as he wraps his arm around my back. He still has hold of my neck and the pressure sends me a message.

I’m not going anywhere.

Gone is the gentle exploration and now it’s all fiery tongues tangling and teeth clashing. A long moan bubbles up from deep within me and Lex responds with a feral growl. Hand dropping to my ass, he grips it hard to pull me closer and I nearly die when I feel the thick ridge of his erection pressing into my belly.

This man wants me?

It’s a notion so shocking, I inadvertently rest my hands on his chest and push to put room between us. Lex lifts his head, staring down at me, a question in his eyes.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” I ask hesitantly.

Because… he can’t be attracted to someone like me. I’m nothing like the women these drivers go for.

Lex moves his hand from my neck to grip onto my hair. “How can you even ask that?” he chides, taking my other hand in his and pressing it to the thick bulge between us. “How can that be a question when you can feel how hard my cock is right now?”

And so there’s no mistaking what he’s saying, he wraps my fingers around his shaft over his pants and squeezes the girth. Lex closes his eyes and huffs out a breath, hips pressing forward for more friction.
