I held her steady, keeping her on her feet as she sank into pure euphoria. I had to withhold a groan of my own as I watched her. She was so effortlessly sexy no matter what the hell she was doing. No wonder I couldn’t keep my eyes off her and keep her off my mind.

Once she settled down, I rose to my feet and kissed her slowly, cupping her flushed face. How she melted in my hands made me want to lift her onto the kitchen island and please her even more, but it was late. I didn’t want to fuck her for the first time with her having to be quiet. I wanted to hear her and properly appreciate her in a bed and not in a kitchen.

“You are so damn beautiful,” I murmured.

Delilah smiled as she rested her arms around my neck.

“I knew I was in trouble the moment I saw you standing there shirtless,” she admitted.

I chuckled quietly.

“I knew I was in trouble the moment I saw you. Period,” I told her before glancing over my shoulder at the digital clock on the stove. “You should head to bed before I keep you up all night. We’ve got a lot of work to do tomorrow.”

“Maybe I want you to keep me up all night,” Delilah said.

I kissed her on the forehead before stepping back and nodding to the stairs.

“Goodnight, troublemaker,” I replied, having to control myself as well.

Delilah fake pouted as she started to walk away from me.

I patted her on the ass playfully, making her laugh softly before heading up the stairs. I watched her go with a faint sigh, feeling my heart throb heavily. Oh, boy. I wasn’t used to that feeling, but I had an idea of what it was from.

Chapter 13

Ryder

The guys and I gathered near the cattle shed, repairing a few broken boards that the tractor’s tire clipped during a feeding session.

“I’m not blaming you, Carson, but you have terrible depth perception,” I stated as I hammered a nail into the wooden board that replaced one of the broken ones.

“It’s really not my fault,” Carson said as he crossed his arms over his chest, rolling his eyes as the others laughed.

“You’re lucky you didn’t run right through the shed,” Amos told him as he held a new board in his hands.

“Poor cows,” Jesse laughed.

“You got that right,” Wyatt added as he smirked at Carson.

“It’s hard to concentrate with a certain someone around,” Carson replied as he cocked an eyebrow at all of us.

We all stopped what we were doing, including making jokes. I lowered the hammer as my eyes shifted around to everyone, noting the silent tension between us. There was the elephant in the room. It was obvious that there was chemistry between Delilah and the band in some form or fashion, but I didn’t know how far that chemistry had gone. No one had brought it up until now.

“Not hard to guess who,” Wyatt commented as the corner of his mouth turned up slightly.

“I feel like an idiot for saying no to bringing her into this project,” Jesse scoffed at himself before looking over at me. “You definitely made a good choice.”

“A really good choice,” Amos agreed before silence fell on us again.

Carson lifted his finger slightly.

“I should probably admit something. I know we were supposed to just work with her, but… we kind of… slept together,” he admitted, tensing slightly like he was waiting for an uproar.

My eyes widened a bit, but was I really that surprised? I didn’t miss the teasing and flirting that happened around the studio, the ranch, or the dining table during breakfast.

“Me too,” Jesse said as he pushed his fingers through his hair to draw a few strands back from his forehead. “I didn’t exactly plan on it, but… yeah. When you see a woman act so good around your kid and who’s also a great person herself, it’s kind of hard not to feel a certain type of way.”

“We had a moment in the kitchen,” Wyatt added. “I told her about my parents, and you guys know how I am about that.”

Then it was more than lust. Wyatt was a locked safe when it came to his past, and Jesse was protective over his daughter. Delilah continued to be an exception.

“We kissed. I had a crush on her when I was a teenager, so I guess my feelings for her hadn’t exactly gone away completely,” Amos said with a faint chuckle.

I looked between all of them, my heart thumping heavily. They had all been connecting with her in different ways, and it felt like I was on the outside. A heated flare lit up inside of me, and I damn well knew what it was.

Jealousy.

I wanted to reconnect with her. Physically. Emotionally. I would be lying to myself if I wasn’t jealous, and it made a stinging sensation jolt through my chest at the thought of being left behind as she explored her feelings with the others. Granted, the guys were like my brothers, and I trusted them with everything I had, but I wanted to be with Delilah too.
