Even when he chuckled, it was sexy. “Did you just review me like an Amazon product?”

I shrugged. “At least you got a perfect score.”

“True.” He drank from his glass before he set it on the nightstand. “Does that mean you’d recommend this product to other customers?”

“No.” I spoke my answer candidly.

He raised an eyebrow.

“Because I want you to myself.”

His gaze hardened into that intense expression that was inherently sexy. He didn’t flinch at my bluntness because he knew I wasn’t looking for a serious relationship, just a good dick between my legs. “You can have me whenever you want.”

“Good.” I scooted closer to him on the bed so our skin came into contact. “The other guys I’ve been with act like hot shit, but they have no idea what a clit is.”

He kept up his stare without saying anything for a while. “The guys you’ve been with since your divorce?”

I nodded. “They are either clueless or selfish. They get off and then walk out like they’re God’s gift to women.” I rolled my eyes. “And then I finish when they’re gone…” My hand moved to his arm and felt the large muscles underneath the skin. “But that’s not you.” I didn’t want to let this guy go. I wanted him on my speed dial, the guy I called for all my physical needs. Why search for someone else when I already had the perfect man?

He continued to watch me with that same intense stare, his thoughts a mystery behind his masculine veneer. He hardly needed to blink, never flinched at the intimacy between our locked eyes. “You’re right.” His hand slid to my knee, and his callused fingers gently caressed the skin. “That’s not me.”

When he’d ambushed me at the restaurant, I was annoyed with his forwardness. Now I considered that day to be the most magical one in recent history. A sexy man chased me until he got the answer he wanted. Now I was beside him, the loneliness and frustration replaced by joy and satisfaction.

“Your husband wasn’t good either?”

I flinched slightly at the personal question.

“You don’t have to answer.”

I was fiercely private about my life, but if Damien was the man in my bed, it was unrealistic to keep everything a secret. Besides, I had nothing to hide. “No, he was. No complaints. That was what made being single so hard.”

His fingers continued to stroke me. “Then why did you leave him?”

“Why do you assume that?”

His eyes looked me over. “There’s no way a man would walk away from you—unless he’s gay.”

Liam hadn’t walked away, but he’d done something worse…he’d betrayed me. “He slept with someone else.” The truth still left a bitterness in my mouth. I’d always worked hard to be a good partner. I watched my diet, stayed fit in the gym, and showered him with constant affection. I was spontaneous in the bedroom, surprising him with lingerie and handcuffs. I wasn’t perfect…but I put our marriage first.

Damien didn’t react in any way, as if he’d been expecting that response.

“Picturing him with someone else is painful on so many levels. But the disrespect is what bothers me the most. The betrayal is so insulting…his lack of loyalty.” I stared at his hand on my knee as the flashbacks played across my eyes.

He nodded slightly. “You’re partners. He should always put you first. That means honesty, integrity, loyalty…all of the above.” His fingers continued to touch me. “But he’s probably not smart enough to understand all of that. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have messed around in the first place. If he comes home to you every day and still wants someone else…something is wrong with him.” His hand moved to my neck, and he brushed the hair from my shoulder. “Look at you.”

I wasn’t shy, but that statement made me blush. The gentle touch of his fingers made bumps form on my arms. My heart raced a little faster when I felt his heat transfer to me.

“Don’t take him back.” His thumb brushed across my bottom lip. “He doesn’t deserve you.”

My eyes lifted to his. “What makes you think he wants me back?”

His eyes stayed focused on mine, his hard cheekbones making his expression naturally sinister. “Just a hunch…”

I kicked off the sheets at three in the morning.

I was warm, sweat on the back of my neck. My eyes opened, and I saw Damien beside me, lying there with his hand on his hard chest. When he was deep asleep, his chiseled jawline was relaxed, and he didn’t seem so intense. The shadow on his jawline seemed more noticeable, even though only a few hours had passed.

I should just go back to sleep, but now I couldn’t.

How could I sleep when a beautiful man like that was beside me?

The heat of my body mixed with the desire between my legs, and before I knew it, I was moving onto his chest. My legs straddled his hips, and I kissed his immobile lips. I was purposely disturbing his sleep for my own selfish reasons, but I couldn’t get enough of him, couldn’t get enough of the fire he ignited across my entire body.
