“Are you okay, mon cœur?” he asks with his green eyes shining with worry. “I’m so sorry.”

I lick my lips and nod as I pull up my shredded dress. “That was amazing, Remy,” I whisper as I lean in, touch his face, and kiss his lips. “I wanted it too.”

Exhaustion sets in and I lean back against the stack of tires. He scoops me up in his big arms and lovingly kisses my temple as he holds me tight.

I can feel his heart beating in his chest. I can feel his love permeating every inch of me as he carries me inside.

“No one can separate us now, ma chérie,” he whispers as he lays me on his bed. “We’re mates forever.”

My eyelids are so heavy. I try to fight the exhaustion, but I’m not winning. It’s taking over…

I close my eyes with a smile on my face, knowing the perfect man for me is here.

And he always will be.

Five Months Later…

We make a strange bunch, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Remy has his big arm around my shoulders as Nathan carries the cake over with a huge smile on his face.

It’s our Jack and Jill baby shower. One of many Remy keeps saying. I’m not sure about that but I’m happy to be celebrating with all of our amazing family and friends. They’re all watching—Colin and Valerie, Grayson, Ryker, Jackson, and some of my friends from work who keep stealing peeks at the giant Foxhounds with wide curious eyes.

Nathan places the cake on the table in front of us and runs over to his parents, looking thrilled that they’re finally back together again. They’re inseparable now. Valerie and Nathan moved to Montana and have been catching up on all that lost time. Her parents are still against it, but we’re all hoping they’ll come around one day. Valerie said that even if they don’t, it won’t change a thing. She’s staying with her mate and she doesn’t care what they think about it.

I’ve been getting along great with her. Of course, my brother would have an amazing mate. We’re like long-lost sisters and I’m so happy to have her in my life. We even made Valerie and Colin the godparents of our baby.

We blow out the candles and Remy grabs the knife. It’s nice to see him with a regular-sized blade for once. After accepting that feral shifters can change, he’s hung up his sword in the basement and goes to work unarmed. With their new director, Cain Bradford, the AFA is committed to helping feral shifters find their mates rather than putting them down. I’m glad about that and I know Remy is too, even though he doesn’t like to admit it.

“Cut the cake!” Jackson says. “We want to know if it’s a boy or a girl!”

Remy smiles as I put my hand on his and we bring the knife down. He looks at me and smiles as we hover the blade over the icing.

We’ve had ultrasounds, but never found out what we’re having. Valerie gave the baker our ultrasound picture and she baked the color into the cake. We’re going to find out together.

“Ready, mon petit oiseau?” Remy asks with a grin.

I step on my toes and kiss his chin. “Ready!”

We slice the cake open and spread it out. Blue! We’re going to have a boy!

My heart races as I look up at my man. In a few months, I’m going to have a little miniature Remy running around. I can’t freaking wait!

I’m so happy I feel like I’m going to burst.

My heart swells as Remy picks me up and spins me around, hollering in happiness. “Un petit loup! I love you so much!”

He puts me down with my head spinning. Everyone rushes forward, hugging and congratulating us and throwing out possible names.

“You should name my cousin Jordan,” Nathan says when we both hug him.

“J’aime ça,” Remy says with an impressed nod. “Jordan Beaufort.”

“It’s got a nice ring to it,” I say with a smile. “I think that moves to the top of our list.”

Nathan looks thrilled as he runs over to tell his loving parents.

“You really like it?” I whisper when we’re alone.

He nods. “I love it. Besides, we’re going to need lots of names over the years.”

I gulp. “How many names?”

He grins as he pulls me in and holds me like I’m the most precious thing in the world. “As many as you can handle, mon cœur. As many as you can handle.”

I smile as he plants a big fat kiss on my cheek.

This man would breed a whole pack out of me if I let him.

Hmmmm, I just might…

Twenty-Five Years Later…

“Can you believe you used to do this with a sword?” Jackson asks with a chuckle as we’re about to bust into the empty restaurant.
