I could tell from the get go that Bradly was shy. Not a flirt like the other boys.

“Thank you, ma’am.”

My brows shot up. “Please, Bradly, call me Georgiana.”

He smiled, and two deep dimples appeared on his cheeks. Lord above, he was going to be a heartbreaker, if he wasn’t already.

“Then please call me Brad.”

Nodding, I replied, “Will do, Brad.”

“Now we move on to the high school brats!” Morgan said with a laugh. “This is Avery Grace.”

She rolled her eyes. “Ha ha, Morgan. It’s nice to meet you, Georgiana.”

Avery Grace was adorable. Unlike her brother, Brad, she had light brown hair, and her eyes were…her eyes were amazing. They were a deep sapphire.

“Your eyes are breathtaking,” I said as I stared into the depths of them.

Avery Grace giggled. “Thanks. My mother has violet eyes, so she teases me that my eyes weren’t sure if they wanted to go green like my daddy or violet like hers.”

“Well, they’re mesmerizing.”

She blushed. “Uncle Brock said you’re an amazing rider. I’d love to go riding with you and talk about fashion!”

I couldn’t help the smile that spread over my face. I looked around the room. “It’s clear the girls like the fashion side of me, and the boys like the sports side.”

Everyone laughed, and I caught Blayze’s gaze. He winked at me again, and I tried to ignore the dip in my stomach.

“We’ve met,” Joshua said as he stepped up, took the back of my hand again, and kissed it.

“Excuse me,” the boy beside him said, “but we haven’t met yet. I’m Nathan Shaw. If you need a real man to show you around the ranch, I’m your guy.”

Groans filled the room, along with a bit of laughter.

“Are you sure he isn’t your son, Brock?” Tanner said with a smirk.

I grinned. “I feel like we’ve met before.”

A wide smile appeared on Nathan’s face. Another good-looking kid with Shaw brown hair and eyes so silver they almost looked fake. “A mini Blayze in the making,” I said as I glanced back at Blayze.

Nathan frowned. “There’s nothing mini about…”

“You even think about finishing that sentence, Nathan Christopher Shaw, and you won’t see the light of day for a month,” Timberlynn said with her arms crossed over her chest. Tanner was attempting to look stern, but it was clear that he was fighting to keep his laughter in. As were Ty, Dirk, Brock, and Blayze.

“Now that you’ve met the brood, let’s eat!” Lincoln stated as she clapped her hands together, and everyone hurried out of the large living room. I remembered where the dining room was, and was about to head that way when someone took my hand to hold me back. An instant rush of warmth shot up my arm and through my body. I looked over to see that it was Blayze.

“I’m sure you already know this, but we need to keep the three underage kids out of the article.”

I tilted my head and studied him. Did he really think I would write about high school kids?

“Nathan and Josh are into bull riding,” he said. “Not as serious about it as Brad, but they do enjoy it.”

“I already said I wouldn’t put kids in the article, do you not believe that I’ll stay true to my word?”

He shrugged. “To be honest, I’m not really sure what this article is about. My father said it was a where are they now piece, so I’m not really sure why you even want me in it.”

I folded my arms. “We already went over this. You rode in the lower circuit and were damn good. The readers want to know why you picked ranching over bull riding.”

The corner of his mouth rose, but with more of a smirk than a smile. “Let’s keep them guessing. My reasons for not going pro aren’t anyone else’s business.”

Sighing, I shook my head and looked away for a moment before I focused back on him. “I’m not here right now to talk about interviews or articles, Blayze. I’m here to enjoy dinner with your family.”

He narrowed his eyes at me, trying to assess if I was telling the truth of not. God, why did that hurt so much. Did Blayze really think of me as another random person who was writing about his family? It hurt more than I wanted to admit.

He studied me, then drawled, “Right.”

As he walked away and headed to the dining room, I pulled out my phone again to see I had another missed call from Doug and nothing from my father. I quickly typed out a text.

Me: Dad, I need you to call me ASAP.

Chapter Seven

BLAYZE

It was clear that the entire family adored Georgie. The girls hung on every word she said, and the boys, well, those little bastards were only thinking one thing.

After dinner, Lily grabbed Georgie’s hand. “We’re going out tonight to a western bar in town. Will you join us?”
