Once I wrapped my hair and body in towels, I made my way into the room. I picked up my phone and saw a text from a number I didn’t have stored in my phone. I swiped it open.

Unknown: Hey, Georgie, I’ll be there in about an hour. Meet you in the lobby.

Frowning, I stared at the text message. It wasn’t Brock’s number—my father had given it to me, and he’d already texted me last night—and there was only one person who called me Georgie.

I pressed my hand to my mouth as I sucked in a sharp breath. Was I honestly ready to face him? I talked a big talk, but truth be told, I was scared to death to see Blayze. I knew the moment I saw those blue eyes and that dimple, I’d be a fool for him all over again.

“No! Please, God, no!”

I quickly typed back my reply.

Me: Who is this?

Their answer was almost instant.

Unknown: Blayze.

I dropped the phone onto the floor like it had just burned me and covered my mouth to keep my sudden urge to scream at bay.

Dropping my hands to my side, I started to shake my head. “No, no, no, no! What did I do to deserve this punishment?”

Quickly grabbing my phone, I sent Blayze a text back. It had to be a mistake. Brock was supposed to pick me up.

Me: Thought your father was picking me up?

Unknown: He couldn’t make it this morning, so he asked me to pick you up.

“Shit.”

I quickly stored his number in my phone. “Okay, okay. Act cool. Normal. Not like the man of your childhood dreams who broke your heart and whom you uttered some really, really mean things to is about to pick you up.

Me: See you soon. If you text when you’re here, I’ll meet you out front.

He didn’t bother to reply; most likely he was driving. I quickly made my way back into the bathroom and stared at myself.

“It’s not a big deal. Who cares that Blayze Shaw is picking you up? Who cares that you totally had a massive crush on the asshat when you were sixteen and he ripped your heart out? It’s the past, and none of that matters.”

If it didn’t matter, why in the hell had I taken over twenty minutes to decide what I was going to wear? Then another twenty doing my hair and makeup. I’d barely finished packing up when someone knocked on my hotel door.

“One second!” I called out to housekeeping. Or at least that’s who I assumed it was. Instead, when I opened the door, I was struck speechless by the man standing in front of me.

Blayze.

My eyes quickly took him in. His dark hair was cut close to his head with the top just a bit longer, giving it an almost military style. He looked like he hadn’t shaved in a few days and had that rough look that made my toes instantly curl. And his eyes. Lord above, I forgot how blue they were.

Then he smiled. The asshole smiled. The dimple appeared in his right cheek, and I was pretty sure my lady bits melted on the spot.

Damn him. Damn him, damn him, damn him!

I went to speak and my voice cracked. Clearing my throat quickly, I folded my arms over my chest. Blayze didn’t even bother to hide the fact that he was surveying my body. I mean, hello, I had just been doing the same thing, but he was beyond obvious.

“This isn’t the lobby,” I said. “And how did you know what room I was in?”

His eyes snapped up and met mine. “I called. Twice. And texted about six times. To answer your question, my dad told me.”

I dropped my arms to my sides in surprise. “You did? And…he did?”

Spinning on my heels, I rushed into the room and picked up my phone that was on the bed next to my purse.

“Crap. Sorry about that, I had it on silent for some reason.”

“No worries,” Blayze said as he walked in. He was wearing a black, long-sleeve T-shirt, jeans that fit him better than they should have, black cowboy boots, and a Montana State baseball cap. Lord, I used to think he was hot in a cowboy hat, but the baseball cap was doing all kinds of things to my body.

Stop it. Stop it right now, Georgiana!

“Are you hungry?”

The change of subject threw me. “I’m sorry?”

“Breakfast. Did you want to grab some?”

My stomach decided to betray me in that very moment. It growled. Loudly.

Blayze laughed. “I’ll take that as a yes. Are you ready to head out?”

I nodded and turned away from him to scan the room and give myself a moment to regain my composure. No man had ever put me off balance like this before.

“Let me check the bathroom once more, then I’ll be ready to leave.”
