Once we got on the dance floor, I drew her closer to me.

“I love Blake Shelton,” Georgie said as Blake belted out the words to “Sure Be Cool If You Did.”

“It’s a good song,” I replied, looking at the top of her head. I was afraid that if I looked at her face I wouldn’t be able to control the urge to kiss her. Hell, I’d had the urge to kiss the woman in my arms from the moment I first realized what kissing was.

Georgie looked down and stared at my chest as we slowly danced across the floor. I shouldn’t have been surprised she could two-step so well. She did grow up in Texas, after all.

Neither one of us spoke while we finished out the dance. When it changed to a pop song, my sister showed up and grabbed Georgie and pulled her into a circle with Lily and Rose. That was my cue to leave.

It seemed like the entire bar was dancing to the song. I took one look over my shoulder, caught sight of Georgie, and nearly tripped.

“Be careful there, Blayze,” a voice said from in front of me. “If you’re not careful, people will start to think someone has finally caught your eye.”

My heart felt like it turned to stone. “What are you doing here, Lindsay?”

She smirked. “Probably for the same reasons you are.”

“I highly doubt that,” I said as I tried to walk around her.

“Who is she?”

Drawing in a breath to show she was trying my patience, I asked, “Who is who?”

“The girl you were dancing with. Your sister and cousins seem to know her well. She looks familiar.”

“Old family friend,” I said, pushing past Lindsay. No matter how many times I ran into her, the anger was still there.

“You’re still mad?” she called out from behind me. I barely heard her over the music and the talking.

Spinning around to face her again, I moved closer. “Leave me alone.”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake, Blayze. You weren’t in love with me, and it all turned out fine in the end.”

“Go away,” I growled.

She smiled. “It appears I still know how to bring out emotions in you.”

Lindsay ran her finger down the side of my face, and I jerked back. “Should we explore those again, Blayze?”

“Fuck off.”

Turning, I headed toward the men’s bathroom, thinking Lindsay wouldn’t be stupid enough to follow me. I should have known I’d be wrong. I never could predict what in the hell she would do next.

“Blayze,” she called out.

I ignored her and kept walking.

“I’ll follow you into the bathroom, and you know I will. Won’t that get all the tongues wagging in town.”

Coming to a stop, I slowly turned in the deserted hallway that led to the restrooms and stalked over to her. She didn’t even budge when I came to a towering stop in front of her.

“We don’t have anything to say to each other, Lindsay.”

“Oh, now is that any way to talk to your ex-fiancée?”

I pushed her hand away when she started to move it toward me. “What do you want? Does Lane know you’re here?”

She dug her teeth into her bottom lip before running her tongue over the dents she’d left there. “He’s riding in Kansas City tonight. Probably fucking some little buckle bunny as we speak. Seems to me he shouldn’t be the only one getting to have all the fun. What do you say, for old times’ sake?”

“Blayze.”

The sound of my brother’s voice was a relief.

“We’re done here, Lindsay,” I said as I gave her a cold stare.

“Little brother, maybe?” she whispered. “I seem to have a way with the Shaw men.”

I leaned in closer. “You stay the fuck away from my family, do you hear me? No one wants you near us, Lindsay. Get that through your head.”

She pouted, then sighed. “Looks like I won’t be able to compare notes—for tonight, at least.”

I took a step closer to her and she stepped back, clearly realizing she’d pushed me too far.

“If you don’t get out of here, I’m going to drag you out.”

“Blayze,” Hunter warned.

Lindsay let out a nervous laugh. “I think I would be into it rough like that. I am, after all, married to Lane. We’ve played with that version of sex. Even had one of the buckle bunnies join us.”

I snarled my lip up at her. If she thought that would pique my interest in her, she was seriously deranged.

“Everything okay here, Blayze?” Betty Jane, the owner of The Blue Moose, asked. For as long as I could remember, she was in charge of the bar. Even told us a few stories about my father and uncles.

“I believe Lindsay here was just leaving,” Hunter said as he stepped between the two of us.

I hated the way Lindsay let her gaze move over my brother. She tsked, then turned on her cowboy boots and held up her hands. “I was just leaving, Betty Jane. Don’t get your panties in a twist. Doesn’t look like either Shaw brother will be warming my bed tonight.”
