“You’d do it for me,” he said, and yeah, I would. “But that doesn’t mean you’re not a pain in my ass.”

“You can be a pain in my ass if you’d rather. I can go get cleaned out, and we can have a quick fuck.”

He shook his head, but he also gave me a half-smile, and damned if there wasn’t hunger in his gaze. Houston wanted me as much as he always had. Hell, maybe we would always want to fuck each other this much. If so, I was screwed because as much as I loved sex, it was never as good with anyone else as it was with Houston.

We took a car service to the Lyon’s House, where the event was taking place. Houston was quiet for most of the drive. While he did well in situations like this, I also knew they weren’t his favorite. He wasn’t a flashy kind of guy. He didn’t like the spotlight on him except when it had been on the football field, and there was no doubt in my mind we’d be a fucking beacon for attention tonight.

I still couldn’t get over the fact that he was doing this for me.

“You need a BJ to loosen you up?” I teased. Houston’s gaze shot to the driver, who was watching us in the rearview. “I meant in the bathroom when we get there, not in the car.”

The guy’s eyes bugged out, and Houston mumbled, “Jesus Christ, Cull,” but I could tell he was trying to bite back his smile. I could bring that out in him like no one else.

The driver pulled up in front of the building before we could say anything else. Houston rushed out of the car, and I was right behind him. The second the door was closed, he said, “You know that’s going to end up online, right?”

I shrugged. “We’re boyfriends in the honeymoon stage. We’re supposed to be fucking each other’s brains out all day, every day—which I’m totally up for, by the way.”

He chose to ignore that. “Yes, but you’re also supposed to stay out of trouble.”

“I didn’t do anything. I just offered to blow my boyfriend. They’d get it once they saw you in this tux. Holy fuck, McRae. You clean up nice.”

The heat that flared in his gaze said it was smart of me not to have told him that at the condo. If I had, we might not have made it here tonight. It was the truth, though. I loved the way the expensive fabric fit around his body in all the right ways. He was freshly shaven, but his dark hair was still tousled, just the way I loved. Mine was loose around my face, and I couldn’t help but wonder if he liked it. I hadn’t kept this much length on it when we’d been in college, and he hadn’t mentioned it since we’d reconnected.

“You’re going to get us into trouble.”

“Just keeping it real.” I grabbed his hand, lacing our fingers together, and headed for the front gate. Inside, photographers were snapping photos of everyone arriving. They probably had taken some of Houston and me on the street, but as soon as we entered, they went crazy.

“Who are you wearing?” someone asked as if this was a Hollywood event and not one for charity.

“Who are we wearing?” I asked Houston. I’d asked him to be in charge of our outfits, and he’d agreed, getting us matching black tuxes.

He rolled his eyes, but his hold on my hand tightened. “Tom Ford,” he answered, his voice slightly rougher than it usually was.

“This is your first time out as a couple. You missed Garrett and Ramsey arrive already. The Rush are the queerest team in the league with two gay couples. How does that feel?”

“I’m thankful for the Rush giving me a chance. My one and only goal is to help bring home a ring for them this year to show them how much I appreciate being on the team. As far as tonight goes, I just want to make a lot of money for charity and revel in the fact that I have the best-looking man here on my arm.”

Everyone ate that shit up, oohing and aahing. I knew without a doubt that Houston was going to kick my ass for that, which was most of the reason why I said it. I mean, it was true and all, but really, I just wanted to have a little fun with him. “You ready to go, bunny?” I asked, and if looks could kill, I would have dropped dead right then and there.

“Sure thing, babycakes,” he said, tight-lipped. God, I enjoyed the shit out of this. They kept taking photos and throwing questions at us while Houston and I walked into the building. The second we were inside, he groaned, “Bunny?”
