“Mmm. You taste good. But you better stop before you end up starving to death, because if you keep this up, I’m going to take you. Fast and hard right here on your living room floor,” Furi panted against Syn’s swollen lips.

Syn rubbed Furi’s arms as if he was trying to calm himself as well. “Alright then, I’ll stop. For now. But you make sure you hold that thought.”

Syn was perfect. It was like they’d just had their first real date. They ate by candlelight at a quaint restaurant overlooking the Missouri River. He couldn’t believe how romantic Syn could be. He held his hand and gazed at him longingly, as if Furi were everything to him. Furi wanted that to be true, but it was so early in their relationship. Syn was just getting a feel for being with a partner and Furi wasn’t so blissfully ignorant as to think that things couldn't change on a dime. But he’d told Syn he wouldn’t voice that doubt anymore. He’d enjoy whatever time he had with Syn. They walked along the boardwalk, holding hands and talking about nothing in particular. Syn was so intrigued when Furi talked about his shop. It was such a relief, felt so different to be with someone completely supportive of something important to him.

Syn didn’t talk much about his family. Just that they were all about job and career accomplishments. Life wasn’t about fun and games it was about work. It was heartbreaking to hear that this larger-than-life man had been brainwashed to believe he didn’t deserve happiness.

It was after eleven. They were back on Interstate 285 stuffed with saikoro steak and Japanese rice lager. “Dinner was really nice. Thank you.”

Syn looked at him and smiled briefly. “You’re welcome.” The sexy grin that came next told Furi that Syn was thinking something naughty. “Are you gonna put out later? That dinner wasn’t cheap.”

Furi busted out laughing. God, he loved it when Syn got cheeky with him. The man needed more laughter in his life, instead of constant worry. “Oh, definitely. I’m an easy lay baby.”

Syn took his arm off the center console and put his hand on Furi’s thigh. “Good. Because I plan on taking full advantage of you tonight.”

Before Furi could respond, he noticed Syn had passed their exit. “Hey. You're so horny that you missed your exit.”

“I told you, I have to handle something.”

“Syn,” Furi growled and closed his eyes. “Do you know where Patrick and his brother are staying?”

“Of course I do. I’m a detective aren’t I?” Syn was completely serious when he looked at him.

“Syn. I don’t like this. Come on, we had a nice evening, let's go back to your place so I can fuck you and show you how much I appreciate it,” Furi purred hoping to deter his determined date.

“Just relax. I promise this will be quick and painless.”

“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.” Furi slouched down in the seat, willing himself to disappear. Much as he would love to see his big bad boyfriend kick his ex’s ass, he just wanted Patrick and Brenden out of his fucking life. He didn’t ever want to see them again.

‘Payback’s a Bitch’

Syn was smiling so hard on the inside. Furi was slouched in the passenger seat looking like he wanted to be anywhere but in the car with him right now. He’d told Furi he was going to handle this for him and he meant it. Syn was done playing games.

After twenty minutes of silence, they turned on to a long winding street lined with large contemporary style homes each backed up against a large man-made lake. Syn cut his lights off as he eased past an impressive, two-story brick house with a "U" shaped driveway. He didn’t see any vehicles and assumed they must be in the attached two-car garage. He cut the engine, reached over and took his Mini Maglite, Sig Sauer, and a pocket-sized canvas case from the glove box and tucked them all in the front of his waistband.

“Syn this is fuckin’ crazy. I’m not doing this. Hell no! Let’s go, now!” Furi barked.

“Shhh. Babe, you’re way too loud. Now stop yelling at me, get out, and don’t slam your door,” Syn whispered, already out and pushing his door quietly shut.

Furi looked at him like he was nuts. Holy hell, was he now discovering that Syn was psycho? Syn lightly tapped on Furi’s window, his frayed nerves causing him to jump.

“Come on, babe. I promise it’s gonna be alright. You said you trusted me.” Syn smiled devilishly.

Furi cracked his window so Syn could hear him clearly. “I do trust you, but–”

“There are no buts in trust,” Syn cut him off. “Show me you trust me completely out here. I trust you in the bedroom. No ifs ands or buts. I let you show me what I need, even when I don’t know I need it.”
