I told myself that it was okay that the others had their moms here, and that it was okay that mine was still being an ass. But the truth is I hated it for my girl. At least her parents were on board. But Belle and Sian’s mother in laws were going to be there….

I don’t think I could forgive my mom for this. And funnily enough, Tammy would be the first one to tell me to. There was a knock on the door just then, interrupting my thoughts, and saving me from completely spazzing the fuck out.

“Come in. Oh hi Mr. Saunders.”

“There’s someone here to see you son. He stepped out of the way and I saw my visitor.

“Mom?” I looked from her to him and back in confusion. Last time I saw her which was the day before she was cursing my hasty marriage.

I should’ve known when I told Jace that something like this would happen. But I didn’t want her here because of what others said, but because she truly wanted to be.

I waited for Mr. Saunders to leave before turning my back on her. “What are you doing here mom? If you’ve come to talk me out of it, it’s not going to happen. I love her, and it doesn’t matter if you like her or not. But you disrespected…”

“I’m sorry about that son, and I’ll apologize.”

“Are you here because Jace or his dad threatened you? Threatened to end your career?”

“Of course not. What kind of person do you think I am?”

I didn’t answer because I truly don’t know. Throughout my life she’s been many things, but lately she’s just been ugly.

“I guess I deserve that. I didn’t react very nicely to her the first time we met. But I’d like another chance. With her and with you.”

“And why should I believe you?”

“Because I mean it. I’ve already seen Tammy and apologized. I thought I should do that first.”

“You saw her?”

“Yes, and she looks amazing. I think she’s the perfect girl to wear your great-grandmother’s ring. She would’ve been proud of your choice.”

“You really mean that?”

“Have you ever known me to say anything I don’t mean? Don’t answer that.” I felt the last few hours’ angst disappear when she wrapped her arms around me and told me that everything was going to be okay.

It had been so long since she’d done that shit that I’d forgotten how it felt. I still wasn’t sure that Jace didn’t have a hand in her being here. But I know him well enough to know he wouldn’t use something like threats against her career to get her here.

If he didn’t think she was genuine, he would be the first to keep her away from me. It was then I realized that all these years while the rest of us thought we were taking care of him, protecting him from outsiders and those who would hurt him, it was him who was always looking out for the rest of us.

“I love you mom, thanks for being here.”

“I love you too scamp. Now go get your girl son, she’s waiting.” I pulled back from her embrace and grinned at her.

“Holy shit mom, I’m getting married.”

“Boy, watch your mouth!” Her grin was almost as wide as mine and when she pulled me in and kissed my forehead I felt the like the five year old kid who thought she hung the moon.

“Jace, everyone’s going to be waiting.”

“This is where it all began.” He moved inside me again.

“I know, you said the same thing last night.” He’s either nervous, scared, or overly excited, I’m not quite sure which.

Last night he’d dragged me off here after our moms teased him unmercifully. But now, hours before the wedding was supposed to start, he’d brought me back here again.

I ran my fingers down his cheek and smiled up at him, not caring that my wedding gown was being crushed beneath me, or that I was sure to have sex hair when we were through.

He bit my finger and stroked into me again. “Are you happy?”

“I’ve been happy since the day we met.” I don’t know why that should make him stop and stare down at me with a look of… what was that look?

Whatever it was it was new. He brushed the hair back from my cheek and gave me a butterfly soft kiss that I felt in my heart. “Now you have to hurry before we’re late for our own wedding.”

I knew just how to get him to finish and set about working my skills on him. He growled and bit into my neck to leave a mark I’m sure and my job was done. “You’re so easy. Now get off of me, I have to fix my hair.”

I’ve decided that babies and weddings do it for me. I’ve had her maybe ten or fifteen times between last night and today and it’s still not enough. We’d stayed up late the night before since everyone was at my house.
