“I didn’t leave my hotel room until after noon. Then, I met with the owner of the hotel to get more information on Candy and where she lived. The hotel is loaded with security footage, so it’s not hard to find out the truth.” I tap my hand on the metal table, itching to put it around this asshole’s throat and squeeze until he turns purple.
“Well, sit back and hold tight. What is the name of the hotel and the owner?” he asks me.
I answer with a smile, “The Granite and that would be Emiliano Martin.” I watch as he pales when I give him Martín’s name. He scurries from the room with his tale between his legs like the little bitch he is while I continue to think about who set me up.
Twenty minutes later, the jackass comes back into the interrogation room. “It seems we made a mistake. The hotel has proof that you never left before the fire was put out. You’re free to go, but I have to ask you some questions regarding your fingerprints being found at the scene.”
“I can’t tell you why they’re there or who did it, but I’m not your guy and I’d love to know who is.”
“Listen, Mr. Diaz. I understand that you’re a friend of Mr. Martín’s, but we don’t need a bunch of dead bodies dropping around town.” That’s a cute warning from the asshole.
“They won’t, but I must find Ms. Bell. If her mother was killed, it won’t be long until someone comes for her.” They’ll have to deal with me once I get my hands on them. Hopefully it’s before they have a chance to find her because there won’t be a soul alive that I won’t skin for hurting her.
My phone rings, and it’s David. “Where the fuck are you, bro? We were supposed to leave by six tonight.”
“Motherfucker, I was arrested. Where are you?”
“I’m at the airport waiting for you. Fucking Martín’s guards wouldn’t let me back into the hotel. He said our shit had already been cleared out.”
“Yeah, I had Cesar clean up and load the SUVs hours ago.”
“Wait. Did you say you were arrested?”
“Yes, someone whacked that bitch you had last night.”
“Whoa, really? Which bitch?”
“Whoa—don’t you dare call Candy that.” If he was in front of me I’d pop him in the mouth.
“Who’s Candy?” Is he fucking drunk? “Wait, are you talking about your nice piece of ass?”
“David,” I snarl.
“My bad. I hit up a strip club last night and came back when your girl left. I fucked two broads last night.”
“What? Have you been drinking?”
“Of course. I’m waiting at the airport. What else was I supposed to do?”
“I’m on my way there. We have some shit to discuss when we get home.”

I do a slow circle around the two men that sit nervously waiting for my judgement which has already been decided from the second I watched the video at the hotel. They failed to protect me which was their sole fucking job.
“Ricardo, Juan, do you two know why you’re here?” I ask my former guards who are tied to chairs in my basement, fear in their eyes.
“We didn’t do anything, boss,” Juan shouts out, tugging on his wrist bindings.
I tap the butt of my holstered gun and shake my head. “No, you didn’t. You watched as someone spiked my drink and did absolutely nothing about it. It’s as if you two were in cahoots with Sheila Bell, who was conveniently killed after her job was done, so now it’s just you two that are my problem.”
“We didn’t—”
“Didn’t what? Think I’d do shit about your betrayal?” I pull out my gun and stand in front of Ricardo keeps looking around me for my brother who is pacing back and forth. “Ricardo, Ricardo…tsk, tsk. Your cell phone registered just outside the trailer park while Cesar and I were on the phone with you when you were supposed to be resting before we left. Just around the time of the fire.”
“So why am I here?” I backhand Juan right in the mouth with the gun, sending a couple teeth flying. It’s like these assholes forgot how insane I could get. Maybe David was right and I’d gotten weak, so it’s time to show them I’m just as fucking crazy as ever.
He spits up blood. “I just fucking told you. Are you just as deaf as you are blind?”
He looks up at me chuckling like it’s funny to him. “You had a good time with that dirty whore anyway. What does it matter if she slipped you some ecstasy?” I pull the trigger, shooting Juan right between the eyes.
“Would you like to insult her too?” I ask Ricardo who is pissing in his pants now.
“No, no. I never meant. It wasn’t my idea.” He shakes his head, hoping that I’ll be able to give a chance to redeem himself. It’s not fucking possible, but I’d like to hear what this asshole has to say.
