“If something happens to you, I’m locked in here. I’d never be able to move that,” she protested, thinking quickly.

“If something happens to me, you face much larger problems than simply opening the door.” He waved her closer. “See that hole there?”

“The one in the stone floor?” she asked.

“Yes. Unscrew the metal rod from the light attached to the wall and shove that in the hole. The stone will move open or closed. As long as you and I are the only ones who know that secret, you are safe.”

Aurora swallowed hard. She could tell this was important. “Got it.”

“Let’s go so you can ask your next question.”

He led her into a large airy area. She noticed he didn’t touch her. That brutal desire inside her seemed banked as long as he was close but not in contact. “This will be your new home. Please change anything you wish to be comfortable here.”

She wandered around, starting in the kitchen. New state of the art appliances filled the space. Peeking into the refrigerator, she was interested to see it was well stocked. Several steaks marinated in a glass container and a large salad was covered with plastic wrap. It looked like dinner was already prepared.

“This seems so normal. How do you have…”

“Be careful, Little one. I will only answer one question in this room,” he warned.

“Am I still in trouble for not staying in the car?” she blurted. Immediately, her hand slapped over her mouth. She’d hoped he wouldn’t remember. Why had she asked?

“Yes. You can see why I did not want you to be seen. Alone, they would never have attacked me.”

“There was no one around.”

“Our eyes see all of the valley below.”

“There’s no way. We’re miles up the side of a mountain,” she protested.

He just looked at her. That gold flash appeared again in his blue eyes.

“Shit,” she whispered.

“Language, Little one.”

“I suppose that’s a rule, too?” she zinged back.

“Curse words do not tell me what I need to know. There’s no rule about them. I would prefer language that is more revealing. Like are you scared? Angry? Repelled?”

“How about concerned that I am way out of my league here?”

“That you will have to adjust to. The differences between us will be easily managed as you become used to your new life. Now, your punishment. Come with me.”

Drake led her to an armless chair sitting by the couch in what appeared to be a living room. He sat down and motioned her closer. Cautiously, Aurora moved to stand in front of him. He leaned forward and wrapped his hands around her hips. The feel of his touch was exhilarating even through the heavy denim of her jeans.

I wonder what it will feel like when I’m naked?

“Better than you can imagine,” he answered.

When she looked at him in a panic, Drake assured her, “I did not read your mind. Your thoughts were written on your face. I, too, look forward to our intimate time.”

He moved his hands to unbutton her jeans. Instantly, she tried to step back, but he held on to the material preventing her movement. “Who’s in charge, Little one?” he asked as he drew the zipper down.

“I don’t like this,” she hissed at him, trying to ignore the feelings swirling inside her. Firefly tumbled from her shirt as the material became untucked from her pants. Drake caught the stuffie easily and handed it to her.

“Thank you,” she said, hearing the tremor in her voice.

“You’re welcome. Did you know dragons can smell a lie, Aurora? Let me ask again. Who’s in charge, Little one?”

Her mind boggled at his revelation. Perhaps she could distract him. She seized on something to say. “Why do you call me Little one?”

He controlled her attempts to squirm away easily as he drew her jeans and panties over her hips. The cool air of the excavated mountain home made her shiver and feel even more exposed.

“Drake! Stop! This is not how I want you to see me naked for the first time.”

He did not answer but simply lifted her off her feet and onto her tummy over his hard thighs. “You look beautiful stretched over my thighs.”

His voice held heat and something else as he rubbed his hand over her bare skin. She shivered in reaction as she clutched Firefly to her chest.

“You’ve wanted to be someone’s special possession for so long. How many Daddydom books would I find on your e-reader?” he asked.

“What?” She tried to pretend she didn’t know what he was talking about. It was easier to try to deceive him when he wasn’t watching her face.

“That lie just added five swats to your spanking. Hand me Firefly. I will keep him safe.”

Debating in her mind, she delayed complying for a few seconds too long.

“That’s five more swats,” he announced.

“Don’t hurt him.”

“Never.” Drake set the stuffie gently on a table close to the chair before returning to smooth over her curves. Aurora felt herself relax over his lap and didn’t understand how she could give him so much control. It just felt—right.
