I’d been reveling in my happiness when she dropped her bomb.

“My friends are all going skiing for winter break. Is it okay if I go?”

I frowned. “Who is driving? I don’t want you coming back from the resort late at night with another teenager at the wheel.”

She smiled so sweetly that I knew she had something up her sleeve. “Of course not, Daddy. We’re smarter than that. We’re going to stay in a cabin at the resort.”

My frown deepened, and my brow furrowed. “There aren't any cabins at Snow Mountain.”

Gracelynn giggled and smiled sweetly, making me even more suspicious. “We’re going to a resort in Aspen. They have amazing cabins! And it’s really safe.”

She went on, telling all the things she knew I’d want to know about the resort. But I was stuck on the fact that it was nearly two thousand miles away.

“No.” I interrupted her, shaking my head. “Absolutely not.”

That’s when the puppy dog eyes and pleading came out.

“Pleeeease. Everyone is going, Daddy. I don’t want to be the only one left out.”

Her sadness was tugging on my heartstrings, and I wavered. “Which girls are going?”

She perked up, sensing that I was edging toward breaking. “Stella, Liesel, Brenda, and Panama. And a few others from track.”

“Liesel? Liam gave her permission to go?” Liam was married to Samantha’s “cousin” London. Their daughter, Liesel, was the same age as Gracelynn, and I had a hard time believing he would agree to this trip.

“Well, she’s asking him today, too.”

Yeah, that’s what I thought.

I pinched the bridge of my nose and prepared for the disappointment I would see on her sweet face when I said no. “You are sixteen-year-old girls, Gracieloo. You’re not traipsing off to Colorado unsupervised with a bunch of other sixteen-year-old girls.”

“Oh! That’s what you’re worried about? No, no. There will be some chaperones. Stella’s older sister is coming. She’s twenty. And Panama’s br—um, older sibling.”

Gracelynn pressed her lips together and shot a panicked look at Samantha, who stuck her head under her blanket, which didn’t hide her shaking shoulders.

“I thought you said it was all girls,” I growled.

Her eyes grew big and round, and she blinked innocently. “No, I didn’t, Daddy. You assumed, and I didn’t correct you.”

Incredulous, I shook my head. “What happened to my little girl?” Then I sighed. “Absolutely not, Gracieloo. You are not going.”

“I just thought…” She trailed off and sniffed, breaking my heart.

I turned to look at Samantha, who had uncovered her eyes. “You want to help me out here?” I was feeling a little desperate since Gracelynn was on the verge of tears again.

Samantha bit her lip, then glanced at our daughter. “Okay, sweetie. It’s time to stop torturing your dad.”

My eyes swung back to look at my baby girl, confused and suspicious.

“Okay, Daddy. I won’t go skiing. Can I go to a party Saturday night at Stella’s house instead?”

Relieved at how easily she’d given up on the ski trip, I mentally sighed. “Sure, Gracieloo. That sounds like…” I paused as something sank in. “Did you say Stella’s house?”

Suddenly, I knew what had happened. I’d been had.

“There was never a ski trip, was there? You were just scaring the shit out of me so I’d agree to the party.”

Gracelynn smiled and shrugged. “Thanks, Daddy!” She threw herself into my arms and hugged me tight before smacking a kiss on my cheek. “Love you!” Then she bolted from the room before I could say another word.

Samantha was laughing so hard she fell over on the couch. I stalked across the room and stood in front of her, hands on my hips as I scowled. “That was your idea, wasn’t it, baby doll?”

She smiled brightly as she righted herself. “I knew you’d say no right away. And Gracelynn is a great kid. She’d never do anything stupid. We have to start trusting her to make her own decisions.”

I knew she was right, but that didn’t make me any happier about it.

“You are still going to pay for this, Samantha,” I warned her in a gruff voice. I perked up thinking about delivering her spanking before fucking her. She’d be sore and her ass smarting tomorrow. Which meant she’d have a reminder every time she sat down.

“Mommy! Daddy!” Our almost twelve-year-old twins, Ripley and Rayven, came running into the room jumping with excitement. They were followed at a more sedate pace by our older sons, Jude and Dakota. “Grandma and Grandpa want to have a sleepover!” Rayven yelled. “Can we go? Pretty please?”

No kids? Alone in the house with my naughty wife?

A devilish smile spread across my face, and I looked at my wife when I answered the kids. “Absolutely.”
