His face goes white, gaping at me for just a moment. “Are you serious?” he questions, his gaze falling back to the test. Tank studies it closely, grabbing the box and checking over the results, his heart in his eyes. “Holy fuck.”

“Yeah,” I laugh, watching as a wide smile spreads across his face.

His eyes sparkle with undeniable happiness, and not a second later, he throws the test and the box over his shoulder before lifting me off the ground, pulling me into him. “Fuck, yeah,” he roars, before crushing his lips to mine in a deep, loving kiss.

I laugh, unable to pull myself away as I lock my legs around his waist, holding onto him with everything I am. “I haven’t brushed my teeth yet.”

Tank strides out of the bathroom, his hand gripping my ass as he takes me right back to bed. “I don’t give a shit,” he says against my lips. “We’re going to be parents.”

“No,” I tell him, feeling him hardening against my stomach. “We’re going to be great parents.”

Chapter 1

SOPHIE

The heavy bang of the front door echoes through the house as I maniacally try to put the finishing touches on my story, preparing to send it to my editor. I’ve been working on this for weeks now and I can’t wait another second to finally be able to say that it’s done. The fact that it’s taken this long has already been driving me insane.

“Babe, where are you?” Tank calls through the house, as I hear the familiar sound of him kicking off his shoes and dumping his heavy hockey bag in the entryway.

I roll my eyes, knowing there’s no way in hell that he would have lined his shoes up neatly next to mine, a conversation we’ve had many times over. “I’m in my office,” I yell back, a smile playing on my lips. Even after all this time, I still get a rush when he comes home to me. Just the sound of him coming through our door is a gift in itself.

The thought has me groaning at myself. Who would have known, back in my skank days, that this would have been my life? The idea of settling down with a man and becoming his wife never crossed my mind. Not until Tank. And now, I’m here saying shit like the sound of him coming home is a gift. Ugh, what the fuck is wrong with me? These stupid pregnancy hormones have been fucking with me non-stop.

Tank barges into my home office and he pauses by the door, groaning with hunger as he takes me in. Knowing he’s coming for me, I only have a second to hit send on my email to my editor before his hands are on my body. He pulls me out of my chair before turning me to sit on the edge of my desk and stepping in between my legs. “Fuck, Soph. You’ve got to give a man some warning when you’re planning to work in your birthday suit.”

I shrug my shoulders, my hand slipping up the front of his shirt and brushing over his body, the feel of his tight abs beneath my fingers giving me life. “It was hot today.”

Tank’s eyes sparkle and become hooded as he cradles my stomach, the same way he does every time he sees me. “How’s this little guy doing?” he asks, leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss to my lips.

The second Tank talks, our son starts kicking as though there’s some kind of house party going on in my guts. I’m only five months along, so I’m not to the point where it’s uncomfortable, just a slight fluttering from within. “He’s good,” I smile. “I think he likes the sound of your voice.”

“Of course he does. I’m his daddy,” Tank says, his fingers roaming over my stomach. “How was work? Did you finish your story?”

“Sure did,” I tell him. “Only just hit send as you walked in. I’m starving though. Lunch wasn’t nearly enough. I was about to go and get myself something else to eat, but seeing as you’re home . . . Perhaps we could go out for an early dinner?”

Tank lets out a sigh. He’s become such a homebody since we found out I was pregnant. It’s as if he doesn’t want to share this moment with the rest of the world, which I guess I understand. It’s rumored that his coach is looking at him to take on the role of captain this season, so the press have been a little wild on him lately, but it comes with the territory. It’s something we’ve had to get used to ever since he signed with the NHL. “You know I like it when you cook dinner in your underwear, with that sexy little bump showing.”

“I thought you hated my cooking?” I ask, lifting my chin and smirking up at him.
