I pointed at the big jar on the table. “There are plenty left.”
“After you wash your hands,” Dom reminded her, and Kate changed direction to head over to the sink first. He waited for her to finish up before washing his hands, too. Then he helped Alice rinse her plate and glass and put them in the dishwasher. Once that was all done, he joined Kate and I at the table, where I was munching on another cookie. He brushed a kiss over my lips and grinned. “Mmm, you taste like chocolate.”
“That’s because she had three cookies,” Alice grumbled.
“No fair!” Kate cried. “How come Mommy gets extra cookies?”
I pointed at my belly. “Because I’m eating for two. That means I can have four cookies if I want.”
“When I’m married and pregnant, I’m gonna eat all the cookies,” Alice muttered with a frown.
“Yeah, me, too,” Kate agreed after gobbling down her first cookie.
Dom glowered at both of the girls. “You’re going to have to wait a long damn time before that happens since you’re not allowed to date until you’re thirty.”
They giggled, but I knew better. Their daddy was as protective of our girls as he was with me. If he could figure out a way to keep them home with us forever, he would. But at least he’d have someone to follow them around when their baby brother was born in a few more months.
