“That’s my girl,” Doc rumbled, nuzzling my neck with his bearded face. “Work through it. Know you’re safe.”

“I’m sorry. It’s going to take some time to get used to.” I looked over my shoulder and smiled at him. Doc kissed my nose affectionately.

“I’d say the same for me, but every time I woke up, you were the first thing I reached for. Thankfully, you seemed to sleep pretty soundly and didn’t move much.”

“I need… uh… you know. The bathroom.”

“No kiss good morning?” I couldn’t see his expression, but I thought I heard laughter in his voice rather than hurt.

“Is it morning? It’s pitch-dark.”

“It’s about three AM. We’ve still got a few hours.”

I turned my face up to his and reached back to stroke his beard. He took the hint and met my lips for a soft kiss. “There.” I grinned, though there was no way he could see me. “Good-morning kiss.”

His soft chuckle sent a thrill through me, and I shivered. “You like me holdin’ you while you sleep? Wakin’ up in my arms?” He stroked my face with his fingertips.

How to answer that. “Maybe.” My voice was a high-pitched squeak. Though my pussy ached for his attention, I wasn’t sure I was ready for that. I was woman enough to admit it might not take much to get me there.

He kissed my neck again. “Go on. Do your business, then come back to me. We’ve got hours for you to get used to it.”

I scrambled out of bed and hurried to the bathroom… except I had no idea where it was. “Uh…”

The bedside lamp snapped on, and Doc groaned like the light hurt his eyes. “To your left. Other door goes to the hallway.”

I hurried off. The bathroom was small, but clean, though the shower was easily big enough for two. I took my time, brushing my teeth and running a brush through my hair. I was surprised to find both objects lying on the counter still in the pack. I wasn’t sure when he’d done it, but Doc had at least prepared some basic necessities for me. It made me smile and my belly flutter.

When I exited, he still had the lamp on, but I left the light in the bathroom on and only partially shut the door. I saw him raise an eyebrow, but he said nothing. I looked away, embarrassed, but climbed into bed. Doc immediately reached for me, pulling me solidly against him, my head once again resting on his chest.

“You want me to leave the lamp on? I don’t mind.”

“No. Just the small light from the bathroom is OK. I don’t like the dark.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll protect you from the boogie man in the dark.” His tone was positively sinful.

“Who’s going to protect me from you?” I turned to look up at him, raising myself off his broad chest. When I did, Doc brushed my lips with his thumb.

“You’re safe with me, Lia. You and Linnie are probably the only two people in the world I can honestly say that about, but you’re safe.”

Why I did it, I had no clue. But the next thing I knew, I’d lowered my face to his and kissed him. It wasn’t more than a brushing of my lips against his, but it felt good. Not as good as it had before, but then, I was leading this encounter. I thought Doc would take over almost immediately. But he didn’t. Instead, he waited until I swiped my tongue across the seam of his lips before he opened his mouth.

He grunted, urging me to continue. I loved the feel of his lips against mine, and there was no way to disguise it. I touched his tongue with mine, lapping tentatively. Doc mimicked my movements, only with bolder strokes. He made me want to do more, but I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do.

I ran my hand over his chest, loving the way the hair abraded my palm and the muscles played beneath my fingers. One of his big hands found my breast, and he squeezed gently. I knew he didn’t have much to grip. My tits were small. Were they too small for him? Would he want a more voluptuous woman? I whimpered as I continued to kiss him, wishing with all that I was he’d take over.

“What do you want, Lia?” God! I loved his nickname for me. No one called me Lia. No one ever shortened my name in any form. I tried not to read too much into it. After all, hadn’t Caroline said he shortened everyone’s name? Right now, though, I had more pressing problems. Like how was I going to answer that question? “Tell me.” His husky whisper was like the devil on my shoulder.

“I want you to take control, because I…” I shook my head before pressing my forehead to his chest. Shame scalded me. How was I supposed to keep this man’s attention if I had no idea how to seduce him?
