I gritted my teeth.

I’m definitely not the same. What is Em going to think of this new Max?

I climbed onto Rafael’s plane not wanting to bump into the stewardess on Jean-Pierre’s jet. She took my gun for her boss. I got a quick nut. Frankly, we were both even in my eyes.

To my surprise, Boris sat on Rafael's plane too, wearing a black suit. He spotted me walking in and widened his eyes.

I held out my hands. “You were trying to avoid me, man?”

He frowned.

“Eh.” I lowered in the seat next to him. “We both caught each other with our dicks out and in compromising situations. We’re now Ball Brothers.”

“Ball Brothers? What is that term?”

“Don’t try to make sense of it. Just rock with it.” Yawning, I leaned back in my chair and prepared to get some sleep.

We waited for Rafael's men to load the cargo section of the plane with dead French.

Every few minutes, Boris blinked and swatting flies that weren’t there. I didn’t know when he would completely sober up, but I hoped it would be soon.

Minutes later, the plane took off, I finally allowed myself to look out the window. I watched as the airport and grounds grew smaller and smaller until they were just a speck on the landscape of America.

Never again, Cali. Never again.

Then, we were up in the white fluffy clouds. Deep blue filled the sky. And the sun was a bright fiery orange as it began to set.

I closed my eyes and went to sleep.

This time my dream was filled with a gorgeous woman that floated in the clouds. She wore a billowing silver gown that brushed the tops of the clouds.

Somehow I floated too.

We were both weightless and free.

She was so fucking beautiful. She looked like an African goddess. Her skin was a deep dark chocolate brown. Silver stars dangled from her ears. Each one shined brightly.

She had these large wings on her back. The feathers were mainly gold and tipped black.

She smiled at me.

Without thinking, I walked towards her and slipped my arms around her waist. She leaned into my embrace, her soft feathers slipped against my skin.

I kissed her neck and she shivered, but did not step away.

She whispered, “I’ve been waiting for you.”

I pulled away and looked into her eyes. “I didn’t know. I would have come faster.”

“I love you, Max.”

My heart heated. “I love you more.”

“Protect me.”

I tightened my grip on her waist. “Always.”

Then, I kissed her. She parted her lips and welcomed my tongue.

We kissed for an eternity.

Our lips moved in unison, our tongues explored each other deeply. And we kissed as if we had known each other for a lifetime.

I knew deep in my heart that she was my love. My world. My destiny.

Chapter 13

N’awlins

I

slept the whole five hour flight, loving on my dream woman and fucking in the clouds.

I was deep inside my goddess when Boris shook me awake.

“Come on, man.” Yawning, I opened my eyes and sat up, and rubbed my face with my hands. “I had a few more strokes in me.”

Boris quirked his brows. “What does that mean?”

“Never mind.” I stood up, stretched, and then made my way to the bathroom.

I eyed the Pansies through the window, rushing around with body bags and huge containers that were probably full of weapons.

In the bathroom, I turned on the faucet and splashed my face with cold water, grabbed a towelette, and freshened up. The bathroom was small but luxurious, with designer toiletries all over the counter. Like Jean-Pierre’s plane, Rafael’s had tons of designer toiletries all over the counter.

No wonder they’re called Perfumed Pansies.

A dull ache hit my chest.

I thought I got rid of you.

I stared in the mirror, happy to see my face with some of my mother’s features.

Okay. I don’t see him anymore. That counts for progress.

I touched my chest and confirmed that a hint of that emptiness was there. At least, it wasn’t as heavy as usual.

Guess I need to work on myself some more.

I sprayed several fragrances on. If Em were here, she would have chuckled. If Kazimir was here, he would have frowned.

I left the bathroom.

Boris waited outside with a wide grin on his face.

“What are you smiling about?”

“I have always wanted to see different parts of America.”

I walked past him. “Don’t get too excited.”

“Why not?” He got to my side.

“The States are fly, but we’ve got our problems. Especially when it comes to people with our skin color.”

Boris frowned.

“But we’re with a bunch of rich white dudes so everything should be fine.”

We approached the opening of the plane.

Boris headed to the bottom of the stairs.

I remained at the top and pulled out my silver joint case and kissed the embossed cannabis leaf on it. “I’ll be near you soon, Em.”

I opened the case and grabbed a fat joint.
