Silence fills the car, and for a while, I’m grateful. But all it does is allow the train wreck of thoughts to come steamrolling back inside my head.

“You good?” Cruz asks as we travel down the road, closing in on the massive gate at the front of my property.

I nod as he squeezes my hand. “Yeah. My head is foggy from the pain meds,” I say, knowing damn well that he’s not asking about my physical wellbeing but more so the mess that’s going on inside my head. “I just want to get upstairs and sleep for a week.”

“No problem,” he tells me. “I’ll help you up the stairs.”

“Thanks,” I say, and not a minute later, the Escalade comes to a stop outside my home. Cruz helps me out and carries me right up the stairs as King enters the code for the automatic lock on the door.

We get inside and I rest my head against Cruz’s chest, the exhaustion of the day quickly creeping up and reminding me that I didn’t sleep all night. No, instead of curling up in my bed like a good little girl, I went out and decided to get stabbed by the asshole who’s been plotting against me this whole time. Where the fuck were my survival instincts when I decided to do that shit?

Fucking hell. Let’s hope I gain a few extra brain cells after having a sleep. After all, while every ounce of my body is telling me to be a stubborn asshole and ignore everything Carver says purely because he decided to deliver it with an attitude, he’s never been so right.

Paris is going to be scrambling. She’ll be feeling everything that she’s worked for slipping away, and she’s going to get desperate. Now isn’t the time to fuck up. I need to be on my A game all the damn time.

Cruz makes his way up the grand stairs, ready to hand-deliver me to my bedroom. I don’t doubt that he has every intention of staying with me until I fall asleep, but his stomach has been making an angry ‘feed me’ noise for the past two hours. Taking care of himself is definitely more important than watching me sleep, but something tells me he’s not going to see it that way.

We make it to the top of the stairs, and as he trudges down the hall with both Carver and Grayson trailing behind him, he gives me a goofy as fuck grin. “You’ve got to stop scaring us like this.”

“Sorry,” I say, a guilty cringe spreading across my face. “How else am I supposed to keep you on your toes?”

Cruz rolls his eyes and gently shakes his head, trying to mask the grin that threatens the corners of his mouth. “Literally any other way would do.”

Carver walks into his bedroom as I laugh, but it’s quickly cut off when Cruz turns and steps into my bedroom, coming to a standstill in the middle of the doorway. “Ughhh … guys?” he says, making a cold shiver trail down my spine. “You’re going to want to see this.”

My head whips back to look deeper into my room, and before my mouth can even drop, Carver and King are barreling in behind Cruz.

Sara Benson lays butt-freaking-naked in my bed, her ass up in the air, her back arched, and her head squished against my pillow with her blonde hair neatly laid out. Her head is positioned looking back at the door with her fingers gently massaging her clit, and I can’t help but feel as though she’s waiting for me, spread out like some kind of happy surprise, but not for long.

She comes to a sudden stop, her eyes widening as she takes in the boys barging through my bedroom door.

“Holy shit,” I breathe, staring at the horrendous sight before me as the memory of what she did to me during Ember’s graduation party comes flooding back to me. “The whole bed needs to be burned.”

Cruz smirks as Sara quickly scrambles, collecting the blanket in her arms and desperately trying to cover up, the embarrassment far too great. “Just give me a minute to commit this to memory,” Cruz murmurs, wanting to soak this up before stepping in to fix it.

I ram my elbow back into his ribs as he releases his hold on me and helps me to my feet. “The fuck do you think you’re doing?” Carver demands, beating us all to the punch.

Sara acts as though he didn’t say a damn word as she hurries off my bed and focuses her wide stare on me. “I ... ummm.”

“I … ummm?” I repeat, mocking her tone and staring at her in shock. Is she kidding me right now? She’s just going to stand there and scramble over her words rather than give me a damn explanation. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Are you insane? Breaking into my home and getting off in my bed? Fucking hell.”
