“None of them.”

Doom watched Arden give Mama an exasperated look.

“I swear none of them were responsible about what happened this morning.”

Mama’s disappointment could be seen clearly on her face. “Are you sure?”

Wizard gave Mama an impatient glance at her not wanting to accept The Last Riders were blameless.

“Positive,” Arden assured her.

“We were asking about what happened to her when you arrived,” Wizard said, moving to the side instead of talking from behind Arden.

“I would stay right where you are,” a huge man the size of a yeti warned Wizard.

Doom had noticed him taking the spot next to Mama when Wizard took the bat away from Marco.

Conflicting emotions crossed Mama’s face as she asked Wizard, “What did she say?”

“I’m right here.” Arden stepped forward to take Mama’s arm. “I told him the same thing I told you. I appreciate your concern—all of you—” Arden gave the huge number of Italian men holding bats pleading glances, “but I have this handled. I’m fine, and I can assure you the person who hit me isn’t here.”

Arden started urging Mama to a van with her logo written on the side. Doom and the rest of the other Last Riders endured their threatening stares as they returned to their cars. All except for the yeti, who remained unmoving.

“Why don’t you try to take my bat away?”

Only one word entered Doom’s mind. Fuck. The yeti hadn’t meant it as a question; he was urging Wizard to try the same move on him as he did on his buddy.

Wizard was no one’s fool.

“Would Natalia want you start a war with The Last Riders when her back is turned?”

The yeti’s face became grim. “Which one of you is in charge?”

“I am,” Wizard answered without hesitation.

“This place is a biker’s hangout?”

“It is.”

“Why is Arden working here?”

“I suggest you ask Arden that question yourself.”

“We have.”

Wizard crossed his arms over his chest. “Then it should be obvious as shit to you and everyone else it’s none of your fucking business.”

The yeti remained unfazed by Wizard’s comeback. “Arden hates asking anyone for help. She’s not la puttana like the other women who hang out here. From my understanding of what I’ve been told about biker clubs, Arden should have been under your protection regardless of whether she is here or not. Have I been told wrong?”

Doom felt the jab of the sarcasm directed at Wizard just the same as if it had been aimed at him.

Wizard’s lips pressed into a thin line. “No, you’re not wrong.”

“Then you not only failed Arden but the club as their leader. I’m giving you time to correct your mistake. Do not fail Arden again. If I see another mark on the bambina, regardless of who put it there, my cousins and I will come back and beat the fuck out of each of your men, make meatballs out of what’s left, and feed them to you one by one. Capisce?”

“I understand,” Wizard gritted out between clenched teeth. “As long as you understand that the next time you step foot on our property, we’re going to take those bats away from you and shove them up your asses.”

Doom, who was more on eye level with the yeti than the three-inch-shorter Wizard, wanted to move closer to Wizard, but didn’t. He could handle his own battles, and he was a skilled fighter, yet Doom thought the only Last Rider capable of taking the yeti down was in Treepoint.

Observing the large cross necklace hanging down from the yeti’s thick neck, Doom kept his eyes trained on Arden’s friend’s hands.

The yeti gave Wizard an amused glance. “Why wait? Come on.”

Doom braced himself. Wizard wasn’t a brother who could be taunted without repercussions.

Pure mayhem erupted as the president of The Last Riders went for the yeti. Seeing Wizard was coming for him, the yeti swung out the bat. Instead of taking it away from him, he took a hit to the shoulder, then went for the thick chain holding the cross.

Reassured Wizard recognized it was a hidden weapon, like Mama’s belt buckle, Doom grabbed another of Mama’s goons, who was also going for Wizard. He caught the bat that had been heading for Wizard’s back mid-swing, then jerked it out of the man’s hands and threw it as far as he could before nailing the fucker in the nose. Doom ignored the howl of pain, picked him up, and tossed him toward the swell of Mama’s men.

He prepared himself to be attacked by three who had managed to avoid being knocked to the ground by the one he had tossed, as he saw Puck going down under a barrage of men focused on getting payback for Mama.

Fighting his way through the barrage of Italian men, Doom was able to reach the spot where Puck had gone down. He tore two men who were kicking Puck away by the back of their necks, leaving him to deal with the more manageable of the three. He used their futile movements to get away to bang their heads together. They dropped like stones to the ground. He saw Puck had regained his footing and had one in a headlock, choking him out. Doom grabbed the other two, who were trying to release their friend, and used his steel-toed boot to send them flying to the side.
