They talk about Owen purchasing the lodge and renovating it to make it more luxurious. I have to sit down later and read it carefully a few dozen times, but right now, I’m too excited to concentrate.

I have to show Owen…

“I’m going to go find Owen,” I tell Tina and Tiffany. “Call me if you need anything.”

“We will,” Tina says as she gets back to work. “Great job, Lauren.”

“Yeah, we’re sorry we doubted you,” Tiffany adds with a genuine smile. “We won’t make that mistake again.”

These two have really changed over the past few weeks since I became a manager. They fought and whined about the changes I implemented at first, but once they saw how much I cared and how hard I worked, they came around and got on board. They’ve been a pleasure since.

“He’s hiking on the mountain,” Tina tells me as I slip off my pumps and put on my hiking shoes.

As if I didn’t know that. I always know where Owen is. I go crazy when I don’t.

“I’ll be back soon.” I race out of the lodge and jog to the trail. I’m so excited that I run up the mountain, hoping he’s where I think he is.

All of the snow is gone and the trees are budding, the plants are sprouting, the flowers are blooming, and the birds are singing. Spring has arrived in Montana and it’s gorgeous.

I leap over a muddy patch and continue running up the mountain with my legs burning and my lungs pumping. It feels good. I love it out here. There’s no place I’d rather live.

The trail opens up along a cliff and offers a spectacular view of the mountains. The gorgeous peeks seem to go on forever. I stop for a few seconds to admire the breathtaking view, but then I continue on, too excited to focus on anything but getting to my man.

I love my new life. Owen has been a dream. We get along so well.

We’re always laughing and having fun, and our bodily chemistry is off the charts. The things this amazing man can do to my body still shocks me. I still don’t understand how he can make me feel so good.

I slip off the trail and head to Owen’s favorite spot. He keeps it unmarked so it’s not crowded with tourists. It’s just for us.

My heart stops when I see him in the distance. He’s sitting cross-legged on the edge of the mountain, meditating in front of the dramatic epic mountain view.

I slow to a stop, not wanting to invade his private moment, but more than that, I just want to take a few seconds to admire my man.

I love him.

And I’m so damn lucky that he loves me back.

It’s still shocking to me that this incredible guy is in love with me. I’ll never take it for granted or forget how fortunate I am.

He must sense my presence because he turns around. I shiver when those striking blue eyes land on me and he smiles.

“Hey, babe,” he says in that sexy voice I love so much. “Are you spying on me again? Just like the first time we met?”

I grin as I walk over with the magazine hidden behind my back. “Are you ever going to let me live that down?”

He chuckles as his eyes fill with love. “Probably not.”

I take a seat beside him, so excited I can barely contain it. “Look what came!” I say as I shove the magazine into his chest.

He takes it and smiles when he sees his lodge on the cover. “You did it. You really did it.”

“A five-star review!” I say as I grab it from him and yank it open to the right spot. “And look! Your picture is in it!”

He flips through the magazine and stops at my photo. He stares at it lovingly for a long time and my insides go all warm and gooey. He really does love me too.

Have I mentioned how lucky I am?

“Amazing job, babe,” he says after he scans the article. My chin is on his shoulder the entire time, scanning it too. “I’m glad I promoted you.”

“I told you that you wouldn’t regret it,” I say with a big smile.

He smiles back. “You’re amazing.”

I kiss his bearded cheek. “So are you.”

He looks at me for a long moment and then licks his lips. “Will you do something else for me?”

“Anything.”

“Can you stand up?”

I’m a little confused, but I get to my feet.

He reaches into his backpack and rifles through it as I watch in confusion.

Suddenly, he’s moving onto one knee and opening a little blue box. I gasp when it hits me what’s happening.

“Lauren,” he whispers as the birds sing around us. “The past six weeks with you have been the best time of my life. I don’t want to go another day without you. Will you marry me?”
