I close one eye and try to find which one he’s pointing at. I rest my cheek on his warm bicep to help me find it, for science.

“That’s Arcturus,” he whispers in my ear. “One of the brightest stars in the sky.”

Warm shivers cascade down my back as I sink into his personal space and feel his masculine energy engulfing me.

“It’s in the constellation of Boötes,” he continues. “It’s a red giant star about thirty-seven lightyears away from Earth.”

“A red star?” I ask as I spot it. “That means it’s like a sun?”

“Exactly,” he says excitedly, which makes me feel like I’m six years old and the teacher just gave me a gold star sticker. “Although it does have a lower temperature than our sun.”

We stare at it for a long moment in silence and I don’t know why, but it makes me feel a bit more connected to everyone. I may be stranded here on the island, but when we’re all looking up, we’re all seeing the same night stars in the sky.

“Isn’t it crazy how there are just ginormous balls of fire floating around in space?”

He chuckles. “I guess that’s one way to look at it. Yeah, it’s pretty crazy.”

“What’s my second star?”

He makes this delicious throaty sound as he scans the sky, trying to pick another one for me. “There,” he says as he points somewhere else. I spot another bright star at the end of his finger. “That’s Vega. It’s the brightest star in the Lyra constellation. It used to be the North Pole star and in about eleven thousand years it will be again.”

“I’m learning so much with you,” I say as I slowly turn around in his arms. He lowers his arm and slides his big strong hand down my back, keeping me close.

I’m tilting my head up and gazing into his gorgeous eyes as my palms slide up his chest. My lips part. I want him to kiss me. So freaking badly.

He looks like he’s thinking the same thing as he gazes down at me with a hungry look. His eyes settle on my mouth and I tilt my chin to tempt him some more.

Our eyelids become heavy and our eyes fall closed as our lips come together. That big hand pulls me into him as he kisses me with all of the intensity of the roaring fire beside us. I moan as my knees go weak. His strong possessive arms are wrapped tightly around me, my hard tingling nipples pressing into his massive chest. My heart is pounding so hard that I wonder if he can feel it.

He moans into my mouth and I swallow it down as I taste him. He’s so good. So delicious and my body craves more. The butterflies in my tummy are going crazy as he claims my mouth for his own.

I want to be his. I’m a strong proud woman, but at the same time, I want this man to own me. I want to be his in every way possible. I want to be absorbed by him. Consumed by him.

When he finally pulls away, I’m dying for more.

He gazes down into my eyes with a heated look and gently tucks my loose hair behind my ear. I’m putty in his hands. I’ll do anything he asks. Anything he wants.

“I’m really glad I’m here with you,” he whispers in that rich sexy voice. “If I could be anywhere on the planet, I’d choose right here with you.”

There are no words to say. I mean, come on, what can I say to that?

So, instead of ruining it with my words, I step on my toes and let my lips and tongue do the talking.

I grab a fistful of his shirt as I reach up and kiss him like he’s never been kissed before.

CHAPTER SIX

Wendy

* * *

We both wake up with a moan. I’m cuddled against Ethan’s chest with his big warm arms wrapped around me. The cool morning breeze tickles our skin as I breathe in the delicious masculine scent of him.

After making out on the airplane bench for a while, I curled up into his embrace and we eventually fell asleep. I remember him whispering to me about the stars as my eyelids got so heavy they couldn’t stay open any longer.

He sinks his nose into my wild bird’s nest of hair and moans when he inhales. Uh oh. The last time I washed it was on the cruise ship. I hope it doesn’t make him gag. I’ve kept it as clean as I can in the lagoon, but nothing works like my Pantene Pro-V back home.

He doesn’t seem to mind the smell at all, but I sit up anyway, just in case.

“Hey,” I whisper as I look down at his sleepy face. “How was your first night on the island?”
